As part of volunteerism “Urging People To Excel”, I curated a Group Exhibition of Paintings by the Signboard, Cinema and Truck Painters from the Rural districts of Punjab at Rawalpindi Arts Council on November 04-09, 2013. The theme of exhibition was “Art is the World Around Us”. I designed the campaign #MyCleanCampus for Quaid-i-Azam University Managed scholarships and internships for the students of QAU and other universities Providing free online career counseling to students Hobbies Drawing and Sketching ( Charcoal, Pastels ), Illustrations, Computer Arts, Web Browsing, Reading, Photography and Videos, (My portfolio of photography can be seen with @streetpainter & #streetpainter on Instagram, Twitter. I co-directed a documentary on career aspirations of ten years old students attending three different education systems in Pakistan: Religious Madrissah, Government Primary School and a High-end private school. Amongst the parts used, the results showed that the whole plant of most of them viz. thirty-two, the leaves of twenty-seven, the stem of twelve, and the fruits of nine taxa were used for different purposes. The governing families of the study area were Rosaceae Family consisting of thirteen taxa, solanaceae having five taxa, Buxaceae, Verbenaceae, Lamiaceae, Acanthaceae having three taxa each, Papilionaceae, Berberidaceae, Buddlejaceae, Anacardiaceae, Thymelaceae, Sapindaceae, Araliaceae, Guttiferae, Oleaceae, Cupressaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Poaceae, Rhamnaceae, Rutaceae, Caprifoliaceae keeping two taxa, and the rest of all the families contained one taxa, each was recorded in the study area. INTRODUCTION Balakot is located between 34°33′N 73°21′E latitude and 34°33′N 73°21′E longitude near Kaghan valley located in the Northern part of Pakistan. It is a historical place and famous tourism site of the region, and the gateway to Kaghan valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The famous river of Balakot is Kunhar, originating from Lulusar lake and merges with River Jehlum just outside Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir.

Ill- designed and poor seismic resistance housing was the major cause of high death toll and severe destruction of physical infrastructure by the October 08, 2005 earthquake. After occurrence of this natural calamity, prefab were installed as a shelter solution in the Red Zone area of Balakot. Although prefabs are an established solution of shelter for earthquake affected areas, this solution needs a complete knowledge of social life and cultural values, as well as climatic features of the areas concerned. It is noted that most people in the Balakot Red Zone are not satisfied with these prefabs. A number of factors were found to be responsible for this: low quality of material used; non-professional and unskilled workmanship; unnecessary interference by the local government; minimum community participation; lack of security; cultural adaptability; climatic suitability. 1. Appeal history: · Preliminary Emergency Appeal (launched as South Asia: Earthquake) on 9 October 2005 for CHF 10.8 million (USD 8.4 million or EUR 7 million) for four months to assist 30,000 families (some 120,000 beneficiaries). · Operations Update No. 3 of 12 October 2005 increased the Preliminary Appeal budget to CHF 73,262,000 (USD 56,616,692 or EUR 47,053,307) to assist up to 150,000 families (some 750,000 beneficiaries) for six months, as an increasingly serious situation has unfolded. · Operations Update No. 5 of 17 October 2005 revised down the number of targeted families to 70,000 (some 500,000 beneficiaries), based on the newly assessed delivery capacity and average family size of seven. · Revised Emergency Appeal launched on 25 October 2005 for CHF 152 million (USD 117 million or EUR 98 million) to assist 81,000 families (some 570,000 beneficiaries) for six months. · Final report due on 25 July 2006. · Disaster Relief Emergency Funds (DREF) allocated: CHF 200,000. Outstanding needs : To date CHF 100.5 million has been received, of which CHF 52.6 million is in cash and CHF 47.9 million is in-kind contributions.
