NEWSLETTER THE OFFICE OF FILM, THEATRE AND BROADCASTING FEBRUARY 2015 ESTABLISHING SHOT ALUMNI FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATES THE WORK OF "MADE IN NY" GRADUATES At the 8th Annual Alumni Film Festival, graduates of the "Made in NY" Production Assistant Training Program were on hand to celebrate their accomplishments with a special screening of the short films and music videos they have created and contributed to since starting their careers in the entertainment industry. NEW YORK CITY CREDITS "MADE IN NY" FILMS NOMINATED FOR ACADEMY AWARDS The nominations for the 87th Academy Awards have been announced, and "Made in NY" films are among those recognized with nominations. INDUSTRY AWARDS HONOR "MADE IN NY" PRODUCTIONS As award season continues, "Made in NY" films and television series have been recognized by a variety of prestigious guild and industry awards. "MADE IN NY" PROJECTS PREMIERE IN FEBRUARY February sees the premieres of new TV shows, a musical at movie theatres, and a special anniversary for a long-running variety series. http://www.nyc.gov/html/film/html/newsletter/newsletter-February-15.html[7/30/2015 2:10:51 PM] BROADWAY SHOWS HEAT UP THE WINTER MONTHS In February, new plays and revival productions head to Broadway. IN THE NEWS "MADE IN NY" MARKETING CREDIT LOOKS 'GREAT' In February, a number of films and TV projects are on display as part of the "Made in NY" Marketing Credit. "MADE IN NY" VENDORS MAKE A 'SMASH' A handful of local businesses have joined the "Made in NY" Discount Card, offering discounts off their goods and services to productions filming in New York City. The latest vendors to participate include: Smash Studios; Digital Media Systems, Inc.; Brown Catering; Pearson Street Parking Corp.; Showman Fabricators; Diva Communications; Orchis Street Enterprises, LLC.; and International Culinary Center. FILM FESTIVALS AND SCREENING SERIES CELEBRATE DIVERSITY IN FEBRUARY Throughout the month, projects from a range of filmmakers will be showcased at various festivals and screenings in New York City. CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH From the Film Society of Lincoln Center's series of work by black filmmakers to the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts' celebration of "Black Future Month," cultural organizations across the City are hosting special programs, exhibitions, and other events to honor February as Black History Month.
