Wicked Bus Trip: After the Book of Mormon trip, I planeed another one for October. This was to see Wicked. I was able to sell 70 tickets for the show and 54 seats on the bus. It was an awseome day. After teh show Jim bought me all the stuff that they sell for the charity and a back stage tour!! A great surprise!! Our next rip is in April to see Kinky Boots.

American Royal: I have never been to the American Royal. This year Frankie and I thought we would give it try. We went on Saturday night for the concert. We went VIP so our food and beverages were included. We were supposed to have good standing room for the concert but we didn't. The food was worth going for. The concert was not.

Cheifs game: My 2nd game of the season!! We arrived around 9:30am to tailgate with our new friends and some old ones! The Chiefs won and it was a great day!! The weather was perfect!

Jazz and Food Truck Festival Downtown: Well I had planned to go and enjoy a night with friends but when I arrived there was a line out the door at The Break Room so I stepped in to help bartend. I did get to enjoy some of the event! I also go to eat delicious food!!

Pot Luck Dinner: Who doesn't love a pot luck!! This year we had a great turn out!! Tons of yummy food!

Boo it Downtown: This event has grown since we first started! Over 2700 kids came through to get candy at The Break Room. I took Kolton!

My birthday gifts!: I got the coolest gifts!!

Frontier Kansas was pivotal in the Union victory. As Kansas impacted the war effort, the war also impacted Kansans. After the war, settlement by hundreds of thousands of veterans who created new towns, businesses, and railroads led Kansas to become known as the Great Soldier State.

This special exhibit tells the Kansas story of the Civil War and features related objects froremom the collections of the Kansas Historical Society.

Featuring an 1854 replica Log Cabin with Blacksmith Shop, 1870’s Victorian Prairie Mansion on the National Register of Historic Places, and 2½ acres of Botanical Garden, including Anna’s Place, a Victorian Reading Garden and a 240 foot cascading rock rivulet.

2015 Miracle on Kansas Avenue Rescue Run November 28, 2015

As we prepare for our 10th Annual Rescue Run in 2015, we have special plans for everyone who has completed all nine Rescue Run’s starting in 2006. If that’s you, please contact the Race Director, Tony Estes at your convenience.

FREE PHOTOS will be available at the Rescue Run again this year! Visit http://runandshootphoto.smugmug.com/Rescue-Run-5K-2014 to find yourself and your friends, and download your free pictures from the 2014 Rescue Run!

The race course this year will again be modified due to construction on Kansas Avenue but the start and finish lines will still be located near the Topeka Tower, just as it was in 2014. The course will incorporate a portion of our original 4 Mile course as well as a portion of our most recent 5K course. The race course will follow this years’ parade route, (the race start line is on 6th Avenue just west of Quincy Avenue) which from the 500 block of S Kansas Avenue will track west on 6th to Harrison, South on Harrison to 10th, east on 10th to Quincy, and north on Quincy back to 6th. All runners will do two loops of the race course and all runners will be electronically timed. Walkers will have the option of doing one or two laps of the course. Although the route is modified, the race course is certified and allows us to retain our USATF credentials; certification number KS14051KH. The start line will now be located on 6th Ave, just west of Quincy and the finish line will still be located at 5th and Kansas, on the north side of 5th St.

Since you’ll be leading the parade, you’ll receive glow items in your packet and you’re encouraged to wear numerous lights and holiday costumes. Bring more of your own lights and “light up the night!” The “Brightest Light” male and female chosen by popular vote at the awards ceremony will receive a special award. So, show up, dress up, and let everyone see your holiday spirit! All Proceeds Benefit Topeka Rescue Mission
