RAY ROBINSON RETURNS HOME RAY ROBINSON, MANUEL GUZMAN TO BOX IN HISTORIC FIGHT SEPT. 30 AT NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY

Philadelphia, PA—Battle-tested prospect Ray Robinson fights at home for just the second time in his career when he faces Manuel Guzman of Lancaster, PA, in the scheduled eight-round main event Friday evening, Sept. 30, at the National Guard Armory in Northeast Philadelphia.

The Robinson-Guzman bout is part of history, making Brittany Rogers (President of Bam Promotions Inc.) the youngest female in the to promote a fight card. First of eight additional bouts begins at 7.30 p.m.

Rogers is a student at Temple University, finishing up her last semester as a Sport and Recreation major. She is 22 years old and making her dreams come true.

"Russell Peltz and Maureen Sacks, of Peltz Boxing, have given me the opportunity of a lifetime by taking me in as an intern in late April,” said Rogers. “They have taught me so much over the last few months and have guided me through this great experience of promoting my first show."

The last time Robinson fought in his Philadelphia backyard was in 2008 when he out-boxed Jason Jordan, of Akron, OH, over four rounds. Since then, Robinson has been seen on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights as well as SHOBOX. He has tested himself by facing tough opposition in Eberto Medina, Darnell Jiles Jr., Harrison Cuello and world-ranked contenders Brad Solomon and Shawn Porter. Robinson (11-2, 4 K0s) dropped decisions to Solomon and Porter, both of whom are undefeated. Solomon, who beat another Philadelphian this year, Demetrius Hopkins, is ranked No. 1 in the world by the WBA. Porter is No. 3 in the WBO world ratings. Robinson will be coming off a 14-month layoff and the southpaw is anxious to get back in the ring.

Guzman (7-12-2, 3 K0s) has boxed several area fighters, including Latif Mundy, Daniel Sostre, Bayan Jargal, Jamaal Davis, Jeremiah Wiggins, Sadam Ali, Ronald Cruz and Alex Perez. Guzman’s most impressive win was his second-round knockout over Ardrick Butler, of Philadelphia, PA, in July of 2010.

Tickets priced at $65, $50, and $40 are on sale at the offices of Bam Boxing Promotions (215- 280-6709), Peltz Boxing Promotions (215-765-0922). They also can be purchased online at bamonboxing.com. All of Bam’s food-concession proceeds will be donated to the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
