For quite some time we addressed this issue, planned it and now we can finally announce that it’s a dream come true. My Dad carefully examined several different ways of creating this media source, so this step means continuing to build on the foundation stone of a working plan mosaic that he designed. This magazine is the result of seeking and finding a viable way to bring our great sport ever closer to the fans. Personally, I am feeling very excited as we can use this platform to keep you fully informed of what our organization does day by day, sharing information and impor- tant images, highlighting our role in history, but also our input into the future of Boxing. We will try to get close to our readers. There will be some sec- tions where we will be able to interact, greatly valuing the view- points of our readers according to their thoughts and feelings. Boxing is a great activity, producing a wide array of emotions, and many countries consider Mexico, as Its Patrimony. The World Boxing Council welcomes you. We hope you like this project. 3 COTTO CRUSHES GEALE IN FOUR ROUNDS ® On the ring: orld Boxing Council middleweight Champion Miguel Cotto W(40-4, 33 KO´s) demolished Daniel Geale with a massive left hook, followed b y In an irresistible the fourth the two follow up barrage, when the interchanged punches and Geale walked into shellshocked Aussie, some- a massive left hook, which toppled him like a redwood. Wilder dominated the action keeping Molina at bay with a drill- ing left jab, but then started tenta- tively pawing, and got caught with a big right hook and then a bigger left hook to the head close to the bell ending the third. It was a pertinent wake up call for the “Bronze Bomber” who felled Molina with a massive and well-timed left hook in the next round. Then in the fifth Molina was dropped hard twice. The first was a massive right hand, and then a hurtful flurry to add to the shellshock, had him down again. He showed great courage to sur- vive that sustained onslaught. Referee Jack Reiss went to the cor- ner to warn Molina about turning away, showing his back, when bar- rages of blows came his way. It was then a question of how long Molina could dodge or absorb in- creasing incoming flak to survive. The end came at one minute three seconds of round nine. Wilder shifted his feet, and gave himself room to graze Molina with a glanc- ing left, but the right hit home on the side of his face with full force, and down he went. It was a massive crumpling punch, which stretched out Molina and this time reprieve via resistance and recovery was utterly impos- sible. Referee Jack Reiss was in no doubt whatever. Born and raised in Manchester, Fury weighed just 1lb at birth after being born three months premature. His father John named him after Mike Tyson. From Irish traveller heritage, the“Gypsy King” is undefeated in 28 professional fights, winning 27 with 19 knockouts, and drawing once. His most famous victory came in 2015, when he stunned longtime champion Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles. He was forced to vacate the belts because of issues with drugs, alcohol and mental health, and did not fight again for more than two years. Most thought he was done with boxing forever. Until an amazing comeback fight with Deontay Wilder in December 2018. It was an instant classic, ending in a split decision tie. Outside of the ring, Tyson Fury is a mental health ambassador. He donated his million dollar purse from the Deontay Wilder fight to the homeless. This book is dedicated to the cause of mental health awareness.

  • Arthur Abraham: “Stieglitz Doesn’T Have the Power to Threaten Me
Arthur Abraham: “Stieglitz doesn’t have the power to threaten me March 23 shall represent another glorious day for Arthur Abraham (36-3, 28 KOs). Then he will meet Robert Stieglitz (43-3, 24 KOs) for their hotly anticipated rematch inside the GETEC-Arena in Magdeburg, Germany. The 33-year-old Abraham captured the WBO Super-Middleweight World Championship last August when he beat Stieglitz on points in his hometown of Berlin. This time the champion is making his way to his opponent’s backyard. In the following interview, he reveals what kind of performance can be expected from him. Mister Abraham, the last time people saw you putting on the gloves you beat Frenchman Mehdi Bouadla by technical knockout on December 15. Were you satisfied with your first title defense at super-middleweight? Arthur Abraham: I guess that I showed quite a good performance against Bouadla. There might have been some details I could have done better but in the end, I dominated my opponent that night and took care of him early. In preparation to that fight Mister Wegner told me his expectations and I must have fulfilled most of them. Anyway, he didn’t complain to me afterwards. March 23 will mark the second time you are going to face Robert Stieglitz. Is there anything left you can surprise him with – or could he surprise you? Arthur Abraham: Stieglitz hasn’t seen the best that Arthur Abraham has to offer in our first fight whereas he might have already shown everything he’s got. I have some words for him: Beware, because our rematch is going to be much tougher than the first fight! I’m training as hard as ever for this clash.

  • Andre Ward Gets His Turn
Setting 2014’s Table: Andre Ward gets his turn It’s your turn, Andre Ward. Ward’s comeback Saturday night in Ontario, Calif., against Edwin Rodriquez (HBO 10 p.m. ET/PT) is just the latest in a succession of Saturdays that sets the table for 2014 and perhaps beyond. It started with Gennady Golovkin’s middleweight stoppage of Curtis Stevens on Nov. 2 in New York, continued with Mikey Garcia’s junior-lightweight knockout of Ramon Martinez on Nov. 9 in Corpus Christi, Tex., continues with Ward-Rodriguez at super-middleweight and reaches a peak on Nov. 23 with Manny Pacquiao-Brandon Rios at welterweight in Macao. It’s an uninterrupted series at different weights, yet with a common story line that determines who belongs, who doesn’t, who’s hot, who’s shot and maybe somebody who can challenge Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s pound-for-pound supremacy. Golovkin and Garcia did what they were supposed to. They are newcomers no more. With a mix of tactical skill, power and poise possessed by each, Golovkin and Garcia fought and won like the major players they figure to be in any of next year’s projected bouts. Now, it’s up to Ward and then Pacquiao. Same goal, yet the roles differ from Golovkin and Garcia. Both Ward and Pacquiao aren’t emerging stars. Instead, they are fighting to prove that they still are one. Ward, often listed second to Mayweather in the pound-for-pound debate, has enjoyed critical acclaim from the media throughout his unbeaten career, yet the customers aren’t listening.

  • Gallagher: Smith Can Emulate Groves' Feel Good Story
Gallagher: Smith can emulate Groves’ feel good story Joe Gallagher says Paul Smith (38-6, 22 KOs) can emulate George Groves’ feel good story by claiming a World title on his third attempt when he challenges Tyron Zeuge (20-0-1, 11 KOs) for the WBA World Super Middleweight strap on Saturday, June 15 at the Rittal Arena in Wetzlar, Germany. Groves won World honours at the fourth time of asking with a stunning sixth-round stoppage victory over the granite chinned Fedor Chudinov on May 27 at Bramall Lane in Sheffield following two epic clashes with domestic rival Carl Froch and a split decision loss to Badou Jack. Gallagher believes Smith, who returns to Germany for a third World title challenge after back-to-back defeats to Arthur Abraham, can mimic Groves’ success by using his ring smarts and experience to dethrone the WBA ‘regular’ champion. ‘’If Paul Smith turns up like he did in the first fight with Abraham then we are leaving Germany with that belt,’’ said Gallagher. ‘’That was a good fight. It was nip and tuck. We had success and when the bell went and I thought we might have nicked it. No one gave him a chance going into that fight, but he went in there, acquitted himself well, and a lot of people thought he deserved to win. ‘’This is now his third attempt, and at this stage of his career, it’s the last roll of the dice. But I just have a good feeling about this fight. I think we could see another feel good story in British boxing, like we saw with George Groves.
