And finally as always the Wives of Managers and Club Officials for their eternal patience. 3 From the Chairman Welcome to our Presentation Day for 2015-16, especially to our Honoured Guests, representatives of our affiliated leagues, our sponsors, Trustees and Vice Presidents. I commented last year on the fact that the number of teams in the club was approaching 70. It now exceeds that number as we fulfil our remit of ‘football for all’. This is a source of pride but the pressure placed on facilities and organisational roles is huge. These issues have been at the heart of a review undertaken by the Trustees and we are actively considering ways of sharing the burden and ensuring clear lines of succession. As always I am proud to oversee all that happens but must emphasise that the real work of running the Club is done by the committee, the trustees, the team managers, their assistants and coaches. Without their efforts none of what happens each week would be possible and they deserve our continuing thanks and support. Please enjoy the day and show your support for each team as they come onto the stage. Geoff Watts SUMMER HOLIDAY FUN FOOTBALL COACHING AIMED AT 5 TO 13 YEAR OLD BOYS AND GIRLS Once again we are offering top football coaching using the best club coaches trained by the David Beckham Academy leading trainers. th w/c 25 July @ Margaret Wix School w/c 1st August, w/c 8th August, w/c 22nd August @ Highfield Park BOOK NOW Full details on www.cityyouthfc.com 4 FROM THE SECRETARY FROM THE SECRETARY Another season of growth has seen more young people than ever representing St Albans City Youth FC on the field. This growth however brings its own problems with facilities being ever stretched to cope with demand. When you add in the community work which is a cornerstone of our success the calls upon the Club officers have become more and more demanding. With all this in mind (and no sign of any reduction in demand) the club Trustees have instigated a study of the future of the club and how we can continue to provide the service we do now. What is quite clear is that there is a need for more support for existing officers in order to make their load more manageable. If anyone feels they would like to become involved with this, please do not hesitate to come forward. At the same time, we are also looking into how we can best develop our own players to prevent then being lured away by the utopian embellishments of the Eastern Junior Alliance. On the field Andy Lawrence’s under 14 North and Chris Tillin’s under 12 West both reached the County Cup Final only to fall at the last hurdle. Keith Glasscoe’s under 18 Warriors completed their youth football career with a cup and league double and John Moss’s under 16 North matched this achievement. Other league winners were Tony Moss’s under 13 Central and Stuart Hills under 12 East teams while James Longbottom’s under 11 East claimed their league Cup. We say farewell to youth football to Keith Glasscoe and the under 18 Warriors and John Finnegan and the under 18 West and wish them well in their future football careers. Other managers standing down are Johnny Doyle, John Moss; Jason Evans; Neil Sweeney and Tracey Lorimer. The club is grateful to them for their part on providing football to young people in St Albans. Without their input and that of on- going managers the Club would not exist. St Albans owes them all a considerable vote of thanks. I first played for the St Albans City 1st Team when I was 16 and was involved in some of the matches for 4 years. It didn’t work out for me with the 1st Team so I joined Ryman Division 1 team Arlesey Town where I played a whole season of men’s football and really enjoyed it for the first time. A fond memory of that year was playing Dagenham and Redbridge in the FA Umbro Trophy drawing 3-3. I set up all 3 goals and went on to score 2 in a 4-2 victory in the replay.

  • Posh's 1994/95 Season
You're So... We're So... This is dedicated to Woody (my son Daniel). A dad always dreams of a son who comes to football with him and Woody has done so. That's the way God planned it: That's the way God planned it Toby. Billy Preston 1969 The End and the Beginning Thank you to all those who have stood (and I emphasise the word 'stood') on the Glebe Road side of the Posh ground over the past few years. Next season we will have to sit down and watch Peterborough United if we want to stay on the Glebe Road side. Time has marched on and a stand is to be built on our beloved concrete. No more stamping feet to keep warm. No more wandering about. No more dandelions. It is very self-indulgent, I know, but I I would particularly like to thank Woody, Les, Trevor, Stewart, Colin, Geoff 'the Pieman', Steve, Jack, 'Eastern Gas', David, Derek, Angus, Phil Walden, Vern and the gang for their friendship, jokes and extra strong mints. But, most of all, I would like to recognise all those people that we all nod to, or say 'hello' to - the sort of folk whose names we never get to find out, the people who just go down in folklore as 'the Man Behind Me', 'the Mick Halsall Fan Club' or 'the man with the Dodgy Glasses', people who, if we were to meet on the sea front at Great Yarmouth in high summer, we would greet like long-lost friends.

ONLINE PROGRAMME FA CUP 3RD QF ROUND TUESDAY 13 OCTOBER 2020 WIMBORNE TOWN FC VS MAIDSTONE UNITED From the Directors Box Good evening and a warm welcome to Cuthbury to our visitors from Maid- stone United. We extend our hospitality to the visiting officials. players, staff and supporters and hope that you enjoy your time with us and have a safe journey home. Tonight, we play Maidstone United who are in the National League South which one level above us. They are in fifth position in their league after they drew on Saturday against Havant and Waterlooville. This is the furthest we have been in the F.A. Cup for 28 years, so with the great supporters we have cheering us on let us see if we can progress further! Last Tuesday we played Farnborough and with a good overall performance the second half saw us secure 2 goals giving us a 2-1 win giving us a well-earned 3 points. Our man of the match was Aidan Shepherd who was our double goal scorer. Well done Aidan! So hopefully the boys can turn in a good performance again as they did for that game. We did not have a game on Saturday so after a good break let us look forward to a good entertaining game against this higher league side. With a bigger crowd expected for this match please remember all the safety guidelines in place and be extra cautious in keeping your distance and wear masks when moving around. It is with great sadness that we announce that Steve Harvey ex-chairman of Hamworthy United F.C.

  • Macclesfield Town Football Club Return to the Non-League Scene Chapter Five So Near and Yet So
MACCLESFIELD TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB RETURN TO THE NON-LEAGUE SCENE CHAPTER FIVE Season 2016-2017 SO NEAR AND YET SO FAR BY GEOFFREY KNIGHTS OVERVIEW A relatively successful season reaching the second round of the Emirates FA Cup, runners-up in the Buildbase FA Trophy and ninth in the Vanarama National League, one place higher than the 2015-16 season. Third position had been attained in the league in October but this status could not be maintained with ninth position consolidated throughout the last three months of the season. Additional funds helped the club throughout the season from cup receipts including one live televised match, sale of three players together with monies raised from the 2016-17 Campaign Fund. Attendances for home league matches fell to an average of 1456 per match compared to 1598 for the 2015-16 season, within this figure there was a reduction in both the number of home and away supporters. However, the town well and truly backed the club when over 7500 supporters attended the Buildbase Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium. The overall financial position of the club continued to improve with additional funding provided by the Silkmen Supporters’ Trust and through the Super Silk Lotto, with the owner stating that he anticipated a more or less breakeven position to be achieved for the financial year. OFF-FIELD Club Officials There were four major appointments during the past year Rob Heys - appointed General Manager bringing with him 15 years of experience at Accrington Stanley in a similar role. Carole Griffiths – appointed as Office Administrator.
