Since his formative years, he was serving the church by participating in youth groups: choir Kiro youth organiza- tion member (like the Belgian Chiro Flanders of FIMCAP) and Religious Catholic Education Ministry. At 17, like little Samuel, he received a call from God to go into priesthood. It was a test from God because the steps to enter the Seminary could not be completed. He studied his classical studies (Primary and Secondary) in Haiti. In 1981, he obtained a Degree in Science of Accounting and worked seven years for Catholic Charities, in Haiti, as Ac- counting Receivable/Payable clerk. He fluently speaks Haitian Creole, French and Spanish. He married his wife Marie Mercie on March 1, 1986 and they have five beautiful children, Noodley, Marckley, Ruth, Emmanuel and Andersch, and three grandchildren for now. Three of their children were born in Haiti and the other two, in Mexi- co (D.F.). In 1988, he went to Mexico to study for his bachelor’s degree in Science of Economics. His family joined him in 1989. In 1995, the whole family went back to their native Country and stayed there until 2003 before they moved to the USA to live permanently. From the time they moved from Haiti to the USA, in August 2003, they resided in Port Saint Lucie, Florida for 17 years. While there, he worked for the Department of Children and Families through a contractor agency, as a de- pendency case manager. The family was registered at St Lucie Parish (Diocese of Palm Beach). The three youngest children served there as Altar servers more than ten years. While there, Deacon Normand received another call from God; this time to be part of the Diaconate Ministry. Amid several environmental and familial issues, he answered affirmatively to God. Strongly supported by his wife and the St Lucie Parish’s pastor, he entered Saint Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in August 2010, to complete the Diaconate Pro- gram Studies. He graduated on May 7, 2015 with a master’s degree in Arts and Theology. He was ordained Deacon on September 12, 2015. As a Parish cleric, he worked in Family and Matrimony Ministry, Religious Catholic Education ministry, Haitian Ministry in the Parish, as well as he presided many viewings, wakes and grave-side services. He and his wife moved to Texas on January 16, 2020. Their youngest son, who just completed his law studies at the time, joined them in June 2020. Deacon Normand received his faculties letter from the Most Rev. Michael Olson to serve the Diocese of Fort Worth on 12/23/2020. Both he and his wife said that they feel so blessed to serve and share their faith at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, whose pastor, the Rev. James Flynn, was ready to foster them. ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH PARISH PASTORAL PLAN 2021 Letter to the Parish September 29, 2016 Feast of the Archangels Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Canonically established in 1830, our parish will celebrate its Centennial in only 14 years. Today we rejoice in past accomplishments while planning for the future. During this Year of Jubilee, occasioned by the celebration of the Year of Mercy, we have sought to access our vitality and published a new Parish Pastoral Plan. For many years now our parish has been organized according to the Archdiocesan Indicators of Vitality. These indicators of Worship, Education, Service, Community, and Administration/Stewardship were set forth by Cardinal Wuerl in 2013. Worship: The heart of the Church is the celebration of the sacraments, particularly the Eucharist. From the Eucharist flows all the worship, prayer, acts of charity and faith formation. Possible areas for discussion may include full, active and conscious participation in liturgy; homilies that are appropriate to the needs and cares of Catholics today; the quality of music and singing; the cultural needs of a diverse Church, and parish involvement in the Rite of Election. Education: Forming the lay faithful for mission depends on a variety of educational programs. Assessing the Church’s ability to teach the faith to parishioners of all ages is essential. Possible areas for discussion may include effective formation for adults who have not been catechized; Catholic schools and religious education programs that successfully transmit the faith; catechetical programs for adults and children with special needs; ways in which the Church teaches, and the importance of religious liberty.

I am always looking for talented ministers to serve in our youth ministry program. I believe that solid ministry is built on relationships between adult staff and teens. Relationships are key to teens feeling loved and accepted so that they can understand the love of God in practical ways. This is when real spiritual growth takes place in a teen’s life. A Youth Ministry like Life Teen requires a substantial team of volunteers working at all levels – from Core members who lead small groups to Life Support who setup environments and serve food. The challenge of our Life Teen Youth Ministry is to access the wealth and diversity of resources within and around the area parishes so as to provide a meaningful and effective faith formation program for younger and older adolescents which engages their energy, imagination, curiosity, compassion and playful spirit in an exploration and engagement of our Catholic faith. Thus, the quality of our youth ministry volunteers is very important.

It is believed that Peck was still here in 1864. In May of 1864, George H. Hall & H. T. Savage opened a clothing store formerly occupied by Peck & Orvis. In September of 1864, Mrs. J. Kennedy announced to the ladies of Baraboo and the vicinity that she had opened a Ladies Furnishing Store just north of Ryan’s Jewelry Store. In May of 1866, Doane & Barstow were busy remodeling the Oak Street circa 1903 building north of Ryan’s Jewelry Store. When completed they planned on stocking the store with dry goods and groceries.
