No.4 January- March, 2020 Review Workshop of Extension Experts of KVK Review Workshop Extension Experts of KVKs was held at ICAR –ATARI, Zone IX, Jabalpur on 25 January, 2020. Dr Anupam Mishra, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Chaired the Workshop in presence of Guest of Honour Shri Sanjay Kumar Saraf Director Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Rural Development & Panchyat Raj , Dr. (Mrs.) Om Gupta, DES, JNKVV, Jabalpur, Extension experts of KVKs in M.P and CG. The workshop started with welcome address by Dr S.R.K. Singh, Principal Scientist of the ICAR-ATARI Jabalpur. Shri Sanjay Saraf in his address He elicited his own experience in training of rural development and extension personnel and highlight KVKs contribution to agricultural development and stated that extension scientists have to play critical role in advocating appropriate technologies to farmers considering the resources available with the farmers. Dr. (Mrs.) Om Gupta, DES, JNKVV in her address stated that KVK should use all possible ICT tools for designing and implementation of activities for KVK. Dr. Anupam Mishra, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jabalpur in his remarks briefed participants about expectation form the extension experts from KVKs and urged them to be more pro- active. He also expressed his great concern about the major role being played by the extension SMS in KVKs. Scientists of the KVKs presented the work done and achievements of last two year and detail of land leased farming situation in their district and terms for leasing land for in the district. Total 45 participants attended presented their progress and future action plan. The workshop ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. A.A.Raut, Scientist, ATARI Jabalpur. Review Workshop on Nutri Smart Village at ATARI, Jabalpur Review Workshop on Nutri-SMART Village was held at ICAR –ATARI, Zone IX, Jabalpur on 28 January, 2020. The workshop was chaired by Dr Anupam Mishra, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-IX in presence of Dr. (Mrs.) Om Gupta, DES, JNKVV, Jabalpur, Dr LPS Rajput, Head, Dept. of Food Technology JNKVV, Scientists of KVKs associate with nutri-SMART initiative in M.P and CG. The workshop started with welcome address by Dr S.R.K. Singh, Principal Scientist of the ICAR-ATARI Jabalpur. Dr. Anupam Mishra, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-IX, Jabalpur in his remarks mentioned that the impct at Household level should be critically monitored in terms of change in nutritional food availability through homestead and community nutrition garden, nutrition intake at individuals at household level and its impact on identified parameters like stunting, wasting, underweight and anaemic. Scientists of the KVKs have presented the details of their intervention and outcome in Nuri-SMART village. Total 43 participants attended and shared their progress and future road map. The workshop ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. A.A.Raut, Scientist, ATARI Jabalpur. Visit of QRT Team at KVK, Dantewada QRT meeting was organized at Dandakaranya sabhagar, KVK, Dantewada in the Chairmanship of Dr. Gaya Prasad, Hon’ble Ex. Vice Chancellor, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut on January 6th, 2020. To review the mandatory work & performance of KVK, Dantewada, KVK, Bijapur, KVK, Narayanpur, KVK, Kanker & KVK, Bastar. Firstly QRT team arrived at Community Processing Unit run by Women FPO at Jhodiyabadam. After that the women FPO and members are warm welcome with traditional bouquet which is made by palm leaves. There after QRT team visited Community Processing Unit where is various processing and other machines installed i.e., Minor millet dehusker, Raoster, Grader, Mini rice mill, Dona pattal machine, Pot making machine and Nutritional Garden (Poshan Vatika) and interact with members of FPO as well as appreciated their works then after the team were visited the Integrated Farming System of Sonku Ram Atami (Village-Kasoli), they have seen the kadaknath rearing unit which is running by Hinglaging SHG, Guava Orchard, Chilli and Brinjal crops. After that team visited IFS model of Bosa Ram Atami and Sailesh Atami. Groups of farmers welcome the team with traditional music instrument (Todi) and bouquet then farmer Bosa Ram Atami gifted organic rice with wooden kanwad to Chairmen then visited the IFS model of Bosa Ram (Banana orchard, Guava orchard, Bee keeping, Fish culture, Apple ber, Coconut and Cultivation of bitter guard inside the net house) they highly appreciate the works. Quinquennial Review Team Meeting of ICAR-ATARI Jabalpur and Kanpur The Quinquennial Review Team Meeting of ICAR-ATARI Jabalpur and Kanpur was held at KVK Ujjain on February 05, 2020 under the Chairmanship of Dr. Gaya Prasad, Chairman QRT and Ex-VC, SVPUA&T Meerut. The meeting was attended by QRT members Dr. Ramchand, Former ADG, (AE), ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. Mathura Rai, Former Director ICAR-IIVR Varanasi, Dr. Y.P.S. Dabas, Ex-DES, GBPUA&T, Pantnagar and Dr. OP Singh, Ex-DES, SVPUA&T Meerut, Dr. Atar Singh, Director ATARI Kanpur, Dr.S.R.K. Singh, Principal Scientist, ATARI Jabalpur. KVKs Ashoknagar, Badwani, Bhind, Datia, Dewas, Dhar, Guna, Gwalior, Jhabua, Khandwa, Khargone, Mandsaur, Morena, Neemuch, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Shajapur, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Damoh, Chhindwara, Bhopal, Burhanpur, Indore, Ratlam and Sehore participated in the QRT meeting. XIth National Conference on KVK-2020 at NASC Complex, New Delhi XIth National Conference on KVK-2020 at NASC Complex, New Delhi Was organized 28th February to 1st March, 2020. Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. During inaugural address Shri Narendra Singh Tomar stated that KVks should establish trust among the farmers as that of a doctor in a particular society or a village. The collaboration of agriculture, youths and technology together that will take the agriculture to a newer height. He urged the farmers to transfer their knowledge to their descendants. The Minister accentuated on promoting the Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations (FPOs) that can revolutionalize agricultural arena of the country. The Guest of Honor, Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare urged for making the KVKs stronger and well-updated with the information regarding the new and latest technologies being developed by the various ICAR Institutes pan India. This would help them to provide prompt assistance to the farmers more effectively. Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) urged the KVKs to be vigilant in their gestures to solve the various challenges and issues being faced by the farmers more effectively and efficiently. He emphasized on making the KVKs a one stop shop that can provide the farmers with any types of help required during the agricultural and farming practices. He suggested the KVKs officials to prepare a proper database of the farmers in the respective areas to address their problems timely. Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR emphasized on making the KVKs a single window system that can provide the information and solve the various problems of the farmers at a same time. He briefed about the status and way forward of the KVKs. Dr Anupam Mishra presented on KVK Initiatives under Nutri-sensitive Agricultural Resources and Innovations (NARI) Approach for Nurti-SMART Farming. The programme focused on linking nutrition with farming to promote Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture, Create awareness among women and rural youth about Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture, Create awareness about homestead nutrition garden. Hon’ble Faggan Singh Kulaste, Central Minister for State Visited KVK Mandla Hon’ble Faggan Singh Kulaste, Member of Parliament & Central Minister for State Visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mandla on 09/03/2020. Hon’ble Minister was welcomed by Senior Scientist and Head Dr. Vishal Meshram and Scientists Dr. R. P. Ahirwar & Dr.Pranay Bharti. Dr. Vishal Meshram briefed about different activities taken up by the centre like OFTs and Demonstrations on different crops and enterprise, training on crop, livestock, machinery and enterprises, rural youth training, training on livelihood security, Campaigns like swachhata abhiyan, soil testing, AI and Animal Vaccination etc., Social activities, Special day activities and other extension activities done by the centre. Then, Hon’ble Minister inspected all the established Demo unit at the KVK like Kitchen Garden, Flower garden, Poshan Vatica, Vegetable cultivation under drip irrigation system, Rain water harvesting structure, Quinova cultivation, Fodder production unit, Hydroponic fodder production unit, Crop Cafeteria of Wheat, chickpea, Mustard, linseed, Units under Integrated Farming system like Dairy unit of Gir and Frieswal, Goatery unit of Jamunapari, Poultry unit of Kadaknath, Narmada Nidhi, Guinea Fowl, Rabbit unit, Duck Demo Unit, Organic ferlizer production unit like Biodecomposer, vermicompost, jeevamrit, ghanjeevamrit, Azolla unit etc. Hon’ble Minister appreciated the efforts by the centre particularly after inspecting the established units and ongoing activities and directed to continue the works in favour of Farmers.
