  • 54 Day Rosary Novena in Honor of Our Lady of Pompeii
54 Day Rosary Novena in Honor of Our Lady of Pompeii The most powerful prayer offered to Our Lady, Mediatrix of All Graces, to obtain extraordinary graces. As promoted by Blessed Barto Longo 1841-1926 (former satanic priest who converted to the Roman Catholic Church became a Third Order Dominican, dedicating his life to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary) Pray this first part in petition for 27 days Make a list of petitions (graces) you are asking Our Lady’s intercession for and present them to her with confidence! Put the image of the Virgin of Pompeii on display and, if possible, light a candle as a symbol of the faith which burns in your heart. Then take the Rosary beads in your hands. Before beginning the Novena, pray to St. Catherine of Siena that she may graciously deign to join you in prayer. O Saint Catherine of Siena, my Protectress and Teacher, who from Heaven assists your devotees when they recite the Rosary of Mary, come to my aid in this moment and deign to recite with me the Novena to the Queen of the Rosary, who has established the throne of her graces in the Valley of Pompeii, that through your intercession, I may obtain the grace I desire. Amen. O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father... I. – O Immaculate Virgin and Queen of the Holy Rosary, in these times of dead faith and triumphant impiety you wished to establish your throne as Queen and Mother in the ancient land of Pompeii, the resting place of dead pagans.

  • Fifty Four Day Novena
FIFTY FOUR DAY NOVENA Origin In an apparition of Our Lady of Pompeii, which occurred in 1884 at Naples, in the house of Commander Agrelli, the heavenly Mother deigned to make known the manner in which she desires to be invoked. For thirteen months Fortuna Agrelli, the daughter of the Commander, had endured dreadful sufferings and torturous cramps. The most celebrated physicians had given up. On February 16, 1884, the afflicted girl and her relatives commenced a novena of Rosaries. The Queen of the Holy Rosary favoured her with an apparition on March 3rd. Mary, sitting upon a high throne, surrounded by luminous figures, held the divine Child on her lap, and in her hand a Rosary. The Virgin Mother and the Holy Infant were clad in gold embroidered garments. They were accompanied by Saint Dominic and Saint Catherine of Siena. The throne was profusely decorated with flowers; the beauty of Our Lady was marvellous. Mary looked upon the sufferer with maternal tenderness and the patient saluted her with the words: “Queen of the Holy Rosary, be gracious to me; restore me to health! I have already prayed to thee in a novena O Mary, but have not yet experienced thy aid. I am so anxious to be cured!” “Child”, responded the Blessed Virgin, “thou hast invoked me by various titles and hast always obtained favours from me. Now, since thou hast called me by that title so pleasing to me, ‘Queen of the Holy Rosary’, I can no longer refuse the favour thou dost petition; for this name is most precious and dear to me.

Susan Connelly rsj writes, “The Magnificat is a whole world-view. It is the perception of a person who is thoroughly steeped in God.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer, notes, “This is not the gentle, tender, dreamy Mary whom we sometimes see in paintings; this is the passionate, surrendered, proud, enthusiastic Mary who speaks out.

APPENDICES 1 – 12 Religion Course of Study PreK-12 --- Diocese of Toledo --- 2018 Appendix 1: God’s Plan of Salvation -- A Summary (Used with permission, Diocese of Green Bay, WI) It is very important that before we dive into the religion Course of Study each year, we set the stage with an overview of God’s plan of salvation – the adventurous story of God’s unfailing love for us, his persistence in drawing us back to himself, and the characters along the way who succeed and fail in their quest for holiness. The context of the Story of Salvation will provide the proper foundation for the rest of your catechetical instruction. The Story can be taught as a one-day lesson, or a week long lesson. Each teacher must make a determination of how long they will take to present the Story to their students. It is important that the story be presented so that each of us can understand our place and purpose in the larger plan of God, as well as how the Church is central to God’s plan of salvation for the world. An overview of God’s plan is to be presented at the beginning of each year, and should be revisited periodically during the year as the subject matter or liturgical season warrants. Please make the presentation appropriate to the grade level. 1. God is a communion of Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The three Persons in one God is the Blessed Trinity. God has no beginning and no end.

  • Novena to Our Lady of La Salette, Reconciler of Sinners
Novena to Our Lady of La Salette, Reconciler of Sinners What is a novena? A novena is a prayer tradition that ties back to the time the apostles and Mary spent praying together between Jesus’s ascension into heaven and Pentecost. It is a set of reflections intended to be said over nine successive days. Novenas can be prayed in a group or in private. All that’s needed is a sincere heart as you pray for the intentions of the novena. First day of novena – Welcome Scripture says: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” (Matthew 11:28, 30) Mary said: “Come near, my children.” Meditation: What a wonderful invitation! In all simplicity Mary at La Salette calls the two children to come near. Her words echo her son’s invitation to come to him that we may find rest from our burdens and refreshment for our spirits. This, too, is Mary’s desire: that her children – meaning us as well – should feel welcomed and loved. Mary wishes us to come nearer to God who desires only good for us. We must approach and listen to her words, spoken with the love and concern of Jesus. She and her son wish that during this La Salette novena, we may “have life and have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b) This special time of prayer can help us experience the welcoming presence of Mary and her loving son. [quiet reflection] Our prayer: Virgin Mother of La Salette, we approach your loving son with confidence.
