Registered on 18th December 1931, this TJ series 12/50 was initially fitted with a Saloon body. In 1959 the body was removed and the chassis shortened by 11† and then fitted with a rather rudimentary body. It was then used for road use and VSCC Sprints and Hillclimbs.

In 1989 this car was subjected to a complete mechanical restoration which included a fresh engine by a VSCC member. An attractive newly constructed high quality pointed tail special body by Panelcraft was commissioned in aluminium over a steel frame, as seen today. The burgundy body and paintwork is of the highest quality, along with a set of no-expense spared and very elegant black wings. At this point the car was not quite finished, let alone used. #02

George Georgiou Best of Show Aston Martin Project Vantage Prototype 1998

The 1998 Detroit Auto show concept, showcasing what the Aston Martin of the 21st Century will look, feel and sound like. Built as an engineering and design study, it features the first 6 litre V12, an aluminium and kevlar honeycomb chassis, carbon fibre roof, semi automatic transmission and Ian Callum's take on a more aggressive and bespoke car than his DB7. It was shown in the UA at Pebble Beach and Amelia Island before being shipped off to Lotus to productions it into what became the 2001 Vanquish. The prototype is completely bespoke, smaller all rounded with the only interchangeable part with a Vanquish being the bonnet badge.

I bought it direct from Aston Martin in a very sorry state, with signs all over it saying do not attach a battery and do not attempt to start. A year long restoration ensued, with the first drive taking place at Goodwood for a Classic and Sportscar article (sept 2017 issue). It was invited to the 2017 Hampton Court concours, the 2018 AMOC spring concours, the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed and the 2019 Quail in Monterey.

It is an important part of Aston Martin history, signalling the high tech 21st Century era and is the genesis of all Aston Martin since its unveiling. #03

Daniel Corbett Vintage and Post vintage Thoroughbred Maserati GranSport LE 2007

This is the ONLY RHD Verde Mexico Gransport ever made. It is a Limited Edition and the interior is cream leather with black piping. I bought it new in June 2007 and it has only covered 34,000 miles. Its sheer good looks and wonderful colour combination, along with its handling and performance, still give me huge pleasure to both drive and to look at every day after 13 years of ownership. I came across a photograph of it in flckr.com the other day with the comment ;This is the most beautiful Maserati i have ever seen; I think this fairly sums up this stunning and virtually unique car. #22

Roy Dowding Post war Classics Reliant Scimitar SE4 GT (aka Coupe) 1966

Unveiled at the 1964 Earls Court Motor Show as the successor to the Reliant Sabre 6. Deliveries began in 1965 with 297 examples made using the straight-six Ford Zodiac MkIII engine. A switch was made in October 1966 to the new Ford Essex V6 engine, when a further 711 cars were produced. Manufacture of the GT ceased in 1970The body was inspired by a 1962 design by David Ogle, shortly before his tragic death. Two examples using Daimler SP250 mechanicals were commissioned by Boris Forter (then MD of Helena Rubenstein, the cosmetics company) with small styling changes made by Carl Olson under the direction of Tom Karen. The concept was offered to Jaguar-Daimler, who declined, allowing Reliant to very willingly adopt it. This particular car is build number 129, bought by the present owner in September 1995 as a partially finished rolling refurbishment. Since then it has had the following attention: a complete body-off chassis restoration in 1996; fitted with unique 5½ J Minilite wheels, made by Compomotive, in 2000; engine rebuilt to modern tolerances, including unleaded conversion, in 2002; a back-to-gelcoat repaint by “Option 1† at Bromsgrove in 2008.

Classic Cars believe there are just four surviving straight-six SE4s still on the road today. #13

Michael Marshall-Clarke Post war Classics Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1974

My Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow - Chassis No. 20091, in (ICI M 151-3898) Regency Bronze with (VM 8500) black leather interior, Sundym glass and (5218 DH) black Everflex roof - or Auricâ as I ve christened her - rolled off the Crewe production line in the autumn of 1974. A late model, chrome bumper Series 1, flared wheelarch car with the wider track and legendary ;L-series; 6.75 litre powerplant.

She had only 2 previous owners from new, myself being the third and currently shows a genuine 64,300 miles on her odometer – backed up with an extensive history file including the original factory buildsheets and customer order. She was delivered to Appleyard Rippon Ltd on Order No. R8678 for a corporate customer in Leeds, who d had the confidence (and cash) to order her in the middle of an oil crisis. She was registered GWW 480N on Armistice Day 1974, the plate she still bears 46 years later.

Auric then became the company MDs transport and stayed with him when he moved to Eastbourne sometime in the late 1980s/early 1990s. In 2008 when, still with the original MDs family after 34 years, Auricâ was MOT with 60,671 miles on her clock. She then appears to have been laid up for 5 years until the next MOT in 2013. Then yet another absence from the MOT centre until June 2015 when she showed 60,813 miles on the clock, having added a mere 142 of those miles in 7 years. In August 2015 Auricâ passed through Anglia Car Auctions, with 60,960 genuine recorded miles and was sold to her second owner who resided in Suffolk. He kept her for 5 years. I purchased Aurica; in March 2020, from Bridge Classic Cars near Woodbridge, and became her third owner and she currently resides with me in Battersea. She is in excellent condition both inside and out and retains all her original features – thankfully unmolested by previous owners, including a working, original equipment Pioneer QP-444 8-track. She was featured in a 6-page article in the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club magazine Spirit &Speed ; in May of this year and I catalogue our adventures together and her provenance on Instagram at: themanwiththegoldenroller #9 #9 #9 #9 CATEGORY: POST WAR CLASSIC

The bodywork is still original, but mechanically it is extensively modified with 300bhp engine by Sigma and all the other period mods allowed by the XK regulations. A racer for the road. #11

The bodywork is still original, but mechanically it is extensively modified with 300bhp engine by Sigma and all the other period mods allowed by the XK regulations. A racer for the road. I bought the car in 1977 and used it as my daily driver for three years . During the eighties it had special occasion use then stored for many years as family life moved on. I did gradual refurbishments then a big effort to bring back my seventies memories;. It is now used in my retirement more than ever including continental trips and recent Scottish tour. It seems much appreciated these days by passers by who know about the era of Marcello Gandini at Bertone and hear the small four cam vee eight. #12

Roy Dowding Post war Classics Reliant Scimitar SE4 GT (aka Coupe) 1966

Unveiled at the 1964 Earls Court Motor Show as the successor to the Reliant Sabre 6. Deliveries began in 1965 with 297 examples made using the straight- six Ford Zodiac MkIII engine. A switch was made in October 1966 to the new Ford Essex V6 engine, when a further 711 cars were produced. Manufacture of the GT ceased in 1970.The body was inspired by a 1962 design by David Ogle, shortly before his tragic death.

Since then it has had the following attention: a complete body-off chassis restoration in 1996; fitted with unique 5½ J Minilite wheels, made by Compomotive, in 2000; engine rebuilt to modern tolerances, including unleaded conversion, in 2002; a back-to-gelcoat repaint by Option 1 Bromsgrove in 2008.

Roy Dowding Post war Classics Gordon-Keeble I.T. 1966 YES

This is no.94 of the 99 examples produced between 1964 and 1966. While the majority were built on what is now Southampton Airport, this example was the first of the final batch of cars made at Sholing, Hampshire, before closure.

Conceived by John Gordon (former MD of Peerless Cars, Slough) and engineered by Jim Keeble, an automobile artisan from Ipswich, the quarter-inch thick glass fibre body was originally styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the new boy at Bertone, in December 1959 and was his first design seen in public at the Geneva Salon in March 1960. Power comes from a small block V8 engine, of 5355cc, transmitted through a Warner T10 manual 4-speed gearbox, and the spaceframe chassis features independent rear suspension with a de Dion tube and Watts Linkage. With 300 bhp on tap, performance even today is impressive, with 0-60mph in under 7 seconds and 100 mph just 10 seconds later. Back then it was the worlds fastest 4-seater, Motor magazine describing it in 1965 as ˜electrifying.

This particular car was one of three that were refurbished in the early 1970s under the personal supervision of Jim Keeble at KeeWest Ltd, of Hedge End. It received a few subtle upgrades that Jim had not had the opportunity to introduce while the car was in production, the most apparent being extract grilles in the front wings.

Since then, it has been fitted with rack and pinion steering in place of the Adwest worm and peg set-up, and was given a back-to-gelcoat repaint in modern two-pack in 1998.

Theunis Viljoen Post war Classics Porsche 356A 1600 Super 1957 YES

Clemmie a matching numbers Orange 1957 Porsche 356A was originally delivered to its first owner in Monterey, California. She was then sold on to a resident in Scottsdale, Arizona where she ended up in his brothers barn after his death. She was rediscovered in 2006 by a local Scottsdale enthusiast who started a restoration project but had to abandon it when his wife fell ill to cancer. She was then purchased in 2008 by a UK enthusiast who imported the car to use as a donor car for a restoration he was performing on a RHD coupe. Restorer, Bruce Cooper from Sportwagen, who fortunately persuaded the owner that the car was far too good to use in that manner, started a 4 year faithful and sympathetic restoration completed in 2012. The car is currently maintained by renowned engine expert Andy Prill from Prill Porsche.

Since her restoration, Clemmie has had regular outings to Goodwood and various 96 Club and Porsche Club GB events. We hope to take her to the Porsche 356 International event in 2021 in France. . #10 #10 #10 #10 CATEGORY: POST WAR CLASSIC

Peter Boita Post war Classics Lotus Elan Sprint Drophead 1972

One of the last batch of Lotus Elan Drophead Sprints ( chassis number 72120846G ) manufactured in December 1972 at the Lotus factory in Hethel, Norfolk. This now perfectly restored, “matching numbers” Lotus Elan Sprint Drophead was delivered new, in “kit” form (to avoid purchase tax) to it’s first owner by official Surrey Lotus dealers Bell & Colvill, based in West Horsley Surrey, on the 17th of March 1973. Instead of the usual Elan Sprint colours of Red over White, that mirrored the Gold Leaf cigarette brand sponsorship colours of the Lotus Formula 1 team of that time, this was a special order car with every available factory extra including finishing the car in a solid colour rather than the usual two tone red over white “Gold Leaf ” paint finish which, by the way, would have cost the Lotus factory more money to produce in that specification as they first painted the cars in an all over colour and then added the white paint over the base colour!

However, the boss of Lotus, Colin Chapman, in his infinite, and “sharp” business wisdom, charged the first owner an extra £15.00 for the “privilege” of having the car finished with less paint and less labour time!

Fast forward, and by the late 1970’s, a lot of money had been spent on the car as by now it had “sprouted’ wide “Kings Road London Cruising” wheel arches, was fitted with Woolfrace wheels and very wide tyres. However, it was terrible to drive! Thus, the decision was made to bring the car back to exactly as it had left the Lotus factory at Hethel in Norfolk with owner Peter Boita taking on the monumental task of replicating all of the Bell & Colvill marketing detailing of sill labels, tax disc holder, key fobs and rear number plate telephone number advertising details. Taking nearly 10 years to complete, due to sourcing all original Lotus components, this was the final car restored by Peter Day of the Official Lotus dealers in Cambridge - “Daytune” ( who had also restored Jimmy Clark’s own personal Elan some years previously ) before his retirement.

The car has been extensively featured in several Lotus books & Club Lotus publications illustrating what not to do with a Lotus Elan Sprint and then how to restore it perfectly!

It is presented today, finished to a standard that Colin Chapman himself would have been proud of… #11 #11 #11 #11 CATEGORY: POST WAR CLASSIC

The first ever production car of 72 manufactured with an unswerving commitment to quality. Chic and quick. The only example in regular use on UK roads. Dry stored for 25 years and recommissioned in 2016 for 50th anniversary celebrations at Beaulieu. Shakedown trials at Goodwood supervised by Ernie Unger, the car's octogenarian designer. Inspected by Sir Stirling Moss at 2016 Goodwood Revival.

Since then the car has been driven with gusto on road and track and is a regular at 96 Club rendezvous. It has been exhibited at numerous prestige shows and events including multiple appearances at classic car shows such as Belgravia, NEC, London, Chateau Impney and as an invited moving exhibit at Bromyard Festival of Speed, hill climbs at Shelsey Walsh, Shere, Firle Hill, Kop Hill and on the London Classic Car Show Grand Avenue. The car has been featured in extensive articles in Octane and TKC magazines. It will be an exhibit among 'The Lost Marques' class at the forthcoming London Concours.

Andrew Hunter Vintage and Post vintage Thoroughbred Ford A 1928

My parents, Wal & Jan Hunter, wanted to explore the world after they were married in 1963. The obvious answer was to restore an A Model Ford and drive from Melbourne to London. It took 6 months, camping the whole way. 12,000 miles of mostly gravel road at a top speed of 35 mph.

My father sold the car in 1975 but I located and acquired it in 2001. It had been left in a shed on a remote Western Australian farm since dad sold it. A new battery, a bit of petrol then we started it up and drove the 90 miles back to Perth without a problem. The car remains as it was in 1963 including the upholstery sewn by my mother.
