Thiscatalogueof fieldripguidebooksandroadlogsisdesignedtoassistindividualsinterested in examining the splendid assortment of geological features in Virginia. The arrangement is by County or City so ttrat trips of local inlerest may be planned. When selecting a desirable location for an excursion, planners should look at adjacent and nearby counties as well as the sarting point in order !o achieve the ideal site for a trip. In addition to the arangement by counties, several field nips have been listed under the headings Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah National Park, and Skyline Drive. No attempthas been made !o describe the subjectmatterof the rips included; frequently the title will be revealing and occasionally there is a helpful note, but the material itself will have to be examined to determine its appropriateness for a particular group or area of study. It must be remembered, however, ttrat the guidebools for these nips were prepared over many years, designed for an assortment of purposes and for a variety of people, mainly geologists or students studying geology. Nearly all of the fieldrip guidebooks are available for examination in the Division's library. These may not be borrowed, but a limited number of pages may be copied at no charge. There is a charge for copies of more than nventy-five pages. Many of the Division publications may be purchasedfromtheSalesOfficeoftheDivision. Bracketedsymbols[...]indicatethelocationwithin the library. In any compilation of this sort" there are bound to be both errors and omissions. The compiler has found and corrected many entries and cheerfully accepts responsibility for those he did not find, requesting only that they be called to his attention. The non-errors and non-omissions are largely due to the efforts of Eugene Rader and Karen Hostettler for which the compiler expresses his thanks.
