On 22 July 2015, the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer, the leading fishing port in France, and the port of Calais, the leading passenger port and 4th ranking port for goods in France, became one and the same «Port Boulogne Calais» as part of a public service delegation contract (DSP) with the Nord-Pas de Calais Regional Council, which owns both ports.
