Our purpose is to establish a network to aid persons researching family origins in Pitt County. Our quarterly subscription fee is $20.00; subscriptions run concurrently from January 1 to December 31. Back issues (Winter 1994-present) may be purchased at $5.00 per number, or $20.00 per volume. Queries are free to subscribers (four/year, pending space). Members and readers are invited to submit primary resource material concerning Pitt County, NC, and its adjacent counties, preferably in the form of photocopies of the original document(s). A clean, typed, transcript would be acceptable. Please state, clearly, the location of the original material; copyrighted material must be accompanied by a statement of permission from the holder. "State of No Carolina Green County} November Term Court Pleas & Quarter Sessions The Court for the County aforesaid Certify that Isaac PARKER of the County & State aforesaid was a Malitia Soldier in the last Revolution War against Great Brittain, which gloriously terminated in the establishment of American Independance that he the said Isaac PARKER was Several times wounded in the Battle of Rock Fish in the Head arms thighs and Legs insomuch that he was of nesessity bore off as will apper as well from the Inclosed affadavit as from the the information of one of our Bench who was in the Same Company with said PARKER. Now therefore the Court recommend him to favour and expect that a Pension adequate to his Support for one year will be allowed him, as act of Assembly in Such case made and provided, provides. The Court moreover, States, that the Said PARKER is, in consequence of his wounds unable to earn a Comfortable Subsistence by his labour, and would recommend as an ad- equate Sum for his support, Twenty Dollars. War Petitions "To the Honorable The General Assembly of the State of No. Carolina The Petition of the Heirs of James BOYD humbly represents That the said James BOYD enlisted as a soldier in the revolutionary War in the Continental line of this State and faithfully served his Country until his death; which happened in actual service of his Country. All which he is prepared to prove on any requisite Occasion. Your Petitioners further Shews that they have never reed, any Compensation for the Services of the said James BOYD. Therefore prays that the Secretary of State be directed to issue a Military Warrant for such quantity of Land as they are entitled to for the services aforesaid; And they as in duty bound will ever pray &c The Heirs of James BOYD" [Rejected] "State of No Carolina Pitt County} Personally appeared before me Jno. NORCOTT a Justice of the Peace Mr. William MOORE and made Oath that he served with a Certain James BOYD a nine months Soldier in the old revolutionary war, in the North Carolina line, and in the Company commanded by Capt. Richard MOSSEN & the sd. MORE deposeth that the said BOYD died to the best of his recollion and Knowledge. Swore to & Subscribed before me this 3r Novr. 1818. under his hand and seal Wm MOORE {Seal} attest Jno NORCOTT J. P." "State of No Carolina Pitt County} We do Certify that we have been acquainted a long time With the said William MOORE and that he is a man of good Credit, and indisputable Carrectors. MOORE one of the acting Justices of the peace for said County Mr. Henry CLARK and made Oath in due form that he was very well acquainted with a certain James BOYD a Nine months Soldier from the said State of No. Carolina and County of Martin and the deponant further deposeth that he himself and the said James BOYD Did serve in the revolutionary war and the deponant further sayeth that some of his Comrades told him that he did die at a place Called the Briery Creek, the Deponant States he himself Did not See him Dead, but is fully Convinced that he did Die as he never Saw him any more and he never returned home again the Deponant further Sayeth not Sworn to and Subscribed before me under his hand and seal this 14th December 1816 {Seal} Test James MOORE J. P. Henry (his mark) CLARK Isaac Hardee NC General Assembly Session Records, Nov.-Dec. 1816, Box 3, Rev. War Petitions "To the Honourable The General Assembly of the State of North Carolina Humbly sheweth Abraham HARDEE of the County of Pitt in said state that his brother one Isaac HARDEE was a Lieuten- ant in the 10th North Carolina Regiment which was enlisted for three years or during the war by order of the Congres of the United States in the Revolutionary War, and that the Said Lieut Isaac HARDEE Served his time in that Regiment according to the term of enlistment and your petitioner further Shews that the said Isaac HARDEE was entitled in consequence of said Service to a certain quantity of land under the Law of the United States, and that he died without having received the Same or any part thereof. Your petitioner further Shews that he is the only Heir of the Said Isaac HARDEE and entitled to the Said Land and that he never did receive the same, nor transfer it to any person and humbly prays your honourable body to order the same to be granted to him and as in duty bound will pray Abram HARDEE" "State of North Carolina Pitt County} December 10th 1816 abraham HARDEE maketh oath that the facts stated in the foregoing Petition are true that the Said Isaac HARDEE lived two or three years after the expiration of his Said Service, during most of which time he was in a low state of health, and for Some time before his death he was about applying for his said land, but died before he effected it, and that he feels confident it was never transfered by said Isaac in his life time Sworn to & Subscribed this day Abram HARDEE above written before me Marshall DICKINSON, one of the Justices of the Peace for the County of Pitt aforesaid Pitt County Dec. 10th 1816— Gardener MOYE of the County of Pitt maketh oath that he was raised in the County of Pitt aforesaid within three miles of Isaac HARDEE, that he (the deponant) enlisted & Served in the 10th North Carolina Regiment in the Revolutionary Army, which was enlisted by order of Congress for three years or during the war- that he knows that the said Isaac HARDEE was a Lieutenant under Captain Van Naye"s Company in said Regiment, and that he as well as the deponant Served their time according to enlistment- that deponant was well acquainted with the said Isaac HARDEE & his family, and knows that Abraham HARDEE, the foregoing petitioner is the brother & Heir of the said Isaac, who died without issue, and that he believes he is the only Heir Sworn to & Subscribed this day Gardener MOYE Above written before me Marshal DICKINSON, J.
