International Toll-Free Dialling Restrictions
International Toll-Free Dialling Restrictions Due to local regulations, toll-free numbers may have some unique requirements and restrictions in some countries. The table below lists all known restrictions that apply to dialling toll-free numbers. The following defines commonly-used terminology and aims to clarify the meaning of these restrictions. Country codes are used when you are dialing to that particular country from another country. Without the correct prefix applied, the call will not route correctly. Domestic Dialling Format indicates both how many numbers are required and the correct format for the particular country. Some countries have multiple formats. Mobile access indicates if you can use your mobile phone to call toll-free numbers in that particular country. Some countries require a mobile routing number to be able to make a call. You will have to contact your phone provider to enable this feature. Some countries only provide access to some mobiles. These are marked as 'partial'. You must check with the local provider if you wish to call an international toll-free service (ITFS) number in these countries. Payphone access indicates if you can use a payphone to call toll-free numbers in that particular country. Some countries only provide access from some payphones. These are marked as 'partial' Third country calling indicates whether you can call toll-free numbers in that particular country from Australia. * FACT SHEET Modernization of Payphone Compensation Rules et al. Report and Order - WC Docket No. 17-141 et al. Background: The changing communications landscape, including the widespread adoption of mobile wireless services, has resulted in a precipitous drop in the number of payphones and payphone calls in this country. Relatedly, the amount of compensation due to payphone service providers from carriers who complete calls from payphones has also dramatically declined. In this Report and Order, the Commission would eliminate several regulations imposed on carriers responsible for completing coinless access code and subscriber toll-free calls originating from payphones. The Report and Order finds that for these regulations the benefits no longer justify the costs given the changed marketplace conditions. What the Report and Order Would Do: • Eliminate the payphone call tracking system audit and associated reporting requirements. • Permit company officials, including but no longer limited to the chief financial officer, to certify that a completing carrier’s quarterly compensation payments to payphone service providers are accurate and complete. • Eliminate expired payphone compensation rules that no longer apply to any entity. * This document is being released as part of a “permit-but-disclose” proceeding.
