Opening of Mozo Wondercity in City, Aichi Prefecture Mozo Wondercity To Open on Tuesday, April 21

Since November 2007, Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) and AEON Mall Co., Ltd (AM) have been redeveloping a shopping center in the north of Nagoya city, named “Mozo Wondercity”. The shopping center will open its doors to the public on April 21. Mozo Wondercity aims to “create a pleasant community for all” through services that meet the constantly changing needs of the consumer. The symbol of Mozo Wondercity is a baby tree, which has strong natural and environmental connotations. This is included in the shopping center’s new logo (as shown below).

The baby tree signifies two things. The first is growth. Just as a carefully-nurtured sapling eventually grows into a magnificent tree, this new mall will hopefully flourish thanks to the care, support, and patronage of the community. The second is our natural environment. The baby tree image shows how Mozo Wondercity will exist as an environmentally conscious and friendly facility, a relatively new concept among shopping centers.

1 History of Mozo Wondercity The original shopping center was developed in 1994 and has been operated by AEON Mall Co., Ltd. for 13 years. During this time, it has been the most popular shopping center in the region. Amidst ongoing housing developments, however, the landscape has changed, and consumer preferences have grown increasingly diverse. The decision was made by MC and AM to redevelop the shopping center in order to better respond to these changing needs, giving rise to the new “Wondercity”.

2 Location of Mozo Wondercity Mozo Wondercity is located in Futakata-cho, a commuter town in northern Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. The area is already heavily-populated and continues to grow. The shopping mall is easily accessible by car and train, situated alongside an arterial road, Route 302, and a Prefectural road, and nearby Kamiotai Station on the Meitetsu Line. There is clearly great potential for Mozo Wondercity to build a strong customer base.

3 Layout of Mozo Wondercity Mozo Wondercity is the largest shopping center in Nagoya City and seventh largest in . Its total retail space is about 69,000 ㎡, offering everything from daily necessities to the most sophisticated products on the market, and meeting our shopping needs with the highest quality of customer service. Mozo Wondercity supports the simplest to most refined lifestyles, consisting of around 220 retailers, including major names in high-end fashion, supermarkets, and sporting goods.

4 Mozo Wondercity – a convenient facility Mozo Wondercity occupies a strategically-designed building that easily accommodates the needs of all its customers, including the physically-handicapped, senior citizens, expecting mothers, and families with young children. The complex has been built to exacting standards in compliance with a barrier-free, “Universal Design”. The walls, columns, floor, and ceiling incorporate clear and highly-visible signs that complement the building’s unique architecture while providing consumers

5 But what exactly does “MOZO” mean? “MOZO” is Japanese onomatopoeic word that describes the sound made when something starts to move, or is stirred to life. The name is meant to give the shopping center a sense of fresh vitality, the feeling that things within are coming to life. When we notice something is stirring to life, our curiosity and excitement draws us close. It is something we want to see. In Japanese, “mozo” encapsulates this feeling. Hopefully, the name will give shoppers the premonition that cultural movements and new lifestyles are on the horizon. The name also has strong natural and environmental connotations – fitting, as the shopping center will play a role in the community to support environmentally friendly, safe and sustainable lifestyles. In this sense, we feel “mozo” is the perfect name.

Universal Design for ‘mozo wondercity’ -- Providing comfort to all visitors --

As the basis of the shopping center (SC) we are engaged in, we think a great deal of making all visitors feel comfortable regardless of age and sex. We are pursuing the staging of comfort that makes it possible for all visitors to be satisfied and have a good time in the SC. We do not take the SC as a mere place where only goods and services are offered. We think that the SC should be a communication base that is desired by the local citizens, that contributes to the enrichment of local citizens’ lives, and that makes all visitors, including elderly people, disabled people and people with babies, comfortably enjoy shopping, considering both people and environment. With this in mind, we earnestly introduced universal design (UD) in 2005 for the first time for commercial establishment. Since then, we have been positively working on the UD with continuous consideration and study.

In order to realize and embody a “more ‘beautiful,’ more ‘pleasant’ and more ‘hospitable’ SC,” we have committed ourselves to provide “quality” (what we can do to deliver the next better, next ahead days), “hospitality” (what we can do to provide the next better, next ahead hospitality), “community” (what we can do to realize the next better, next ahead community) and “information” (what we can do to send the next better, next ahead information). In order for all visitors to enjoy “safe, secure and comfortable” shopping, we are always considering everything with hospitality from ideal environmental arrangement to ideal services. For these purposes, we consider it absolutely indispensable to introduce the philosophy of the UD.

■Providing easy-to-understand, highly-visible information signs to all visitors - In order to accurately guide visitors to their destinations in the spacious Mall, we have limited the sign information amount, set the sizes of characters, etc. so that only the necessary information can be provided in a way easy to understand, and made the sign locations easy to be recognized.

- We have provided not only signs for guiding visitors who came by car to the parking lot but also signs for guiding visitors who came by train or bus to the train station or bus depot.

- We have linked the coloring of the parking lot zone to that of each entrance/exit of the facilities so that visitors can understand which entrance they came from and which parking lot they parked their cars in.

■Providing hospitality to all visitors to make them do their shopping with no worries - We have installed an information counter in the central part of the first floor, the most accessible place to visitors, to help them by providing the information of the Mall, paging lost children, lending wheelchairs and providing other services.

- We have installed intercoms led to the information counter at major entrances to help visitors who need assistance do shopping.

- We have dispersedly provided parking lots for disabled visitors for about 60 cars in capacity near the entrances to the Mall of the roofed indoor parking lots. In order to make a part of them exclusive for disabled person, we have employed a remote-controlled opening/closing gate type. The remote control is ready for lending at the information counter on the first floor.

- At each elevator installed place, one of the elevators is designed for disabled visitors. It is internally equipped with stools, large-sized pushbuttons and other considerations.

- We have provided two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in the Mall and one AED in the disaster-prevention center. We will keep training every employee in the usage of the AED so that all employees can support visitors in an emergency case.

■Providing comfortable, easy-to-use toilet environment to all visitors - Aiming at toilets that can be easily used by everybody, we have considered the locations, models and sizes of sanitary appliances, sink counters, handrails and display keys. As our consideration for visitors with children, we have added “toilets for children” and “resting rooms for babies.” For women visitors, we have provided “powder space” in all toilet facilities.

- We have provided “happy toilets” with floor-specific theme. In the toilet facilities located in the central part of the Mall, we have set different themes (“Elegant” for the first floor, “Urban” for the second floor, “Casual” for the third floor and “Natural Modern” for the fourth floor) to stage different airs plus easygoing space by widening the internal passages.

- In addition to general booths, for a wide booth designed for the use by visitors with baby carriages or wheelchairs with no worries, we have provided a crib and a fitting board as well as a toilet bowl for ostomates.

We are engaged in various environmental preservation and social action activities centering on “environmental preservation” and “promotion of local culture and society.”

■Engagement in activities related to environment and energy-saving - Greening of walls Æ We are in operation for the greening of the buildings’ exterior walls for about 1,700m2 to reduce the emission of CO , hydrate the exterior walls and thereby mitigate the buildings’ oppressing feeling. 2 - Introduction of an ice thermal air-conditioning system Æ With a view to equalize the electric power supplies, we have introduced an ice thermal air-conditioning system featured by excellent energy utilization efficiency.

- Introduction of a high-efficiency refrigerating machine (inverter turbo refrigerator) Æ We are controlling the rotational speed of the motor for the air-conditioning system, which consumes the largest power in the Mall, according to the load (inverter control). Compared with the conventional speed-fixed motor, this introduction can realize a substantial energy saving and further reduce the CO emission. 2 - Use of well water Æ We are using well water for flushing the toilet in the Mall to reduce the consumption of service water.

- Active use of recycled materials Æ We have employed regenerated crushed stones (demolition materials from the old “AEONMALL Nagoya wondercity”). Æ We have employed interlocking blocks made of regenerated materials.

- Introduction of long-life, high-efficiency light sources Æ We are using long-life LEDs as light sources for signboards on exterior wall. Also, we will employ high-efficiency lighting apparatuses with high-efficient reflecting plates for a part of the multilevel parking garage building.

- Presentation of our engagement in environmental preservation Æ We have provided a space in the Mall for presenting our engagement in environmental preservation to promote the enlightenment related to environmental preservation.

- “Clean Activity” Æ We have set the 11th day of every month as a “Clean Day” to perform cleaning around the premises with our employees and tenant employees as “Clean Activity.”

- Tree-planting ceremony, “AEON Hometown Forestation” Æ AEON is planning a tree-planting ceremony called “AEON Hometown Forestation” as a part of our environmental preservation and social action activities, which we will be engaged in with local citizens. Specifically, we will plant baby trees of “hometown trees,” which are growing locally and naturally, in and around the premises of the SC jointly with local citizens. This SC will hold the “AEON Hometown Forestation” on Sunday, March 22 and plant 20,000 baby trees. Those who take part in this tree-planting ceremony will be invited to the tree-nursing ceremony (taking care of planted baby trees, including fertilization) to be held every year to promote the joint social action activities.

【Green Activities and Social Contributions】 <Actions to Prevent Global Warming> AEON reviewed its practice in dealing with shopping plastic bags in order to reduce them by a large margin and now it doesn’t provide them for free thanks to the understanding and cooperation given by the local government body, members of civic groups and consumers. In accordance with this policy, JUSCO wonder city will not hand free plastic bags at the cashier from its opening. We will make further efforts to reduce them together with our customers.

AEON has made efforts to foster personnel who can interact meaningfully with persons with dementia and their families, by having its employees participate in a training course to learn how to interact with persons with dementia since 2007. JUSCO wonder city lets its 200 employees take part in such a training course on March 19 (Thursday) and 20 (Friday) before opening.

<Good Day, Good Town, AEON Day> We have designated the 11th day of the month ‘Good Day, Good Town, AEON day’.On this day, AEON stores make many types of social contributions in their vicinity.
