Port Chester Selected as One of 41 Communities to Receive Recycling Bins
Port Chester, NY – May 1, 2017 - In 2017, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group/Keep America Beautiful Park Recycling Bin Grant Program is funding 914 new recycling bins in public parks across the country, making recycling more accessible for Americans enjoying the outdoors. The Village of Port Chester is one of 41 communities to be selected to receive recycling bins. Port Chester will receive 20 of these new bins, five each for Abendroth, Columbus, Edgewood, Lyon, and Recreation Parks.
Now in its fifth year, the Park Recycling Bin Grant Program has provided more than 4,300 recycling bins to local governments and community organizations across 41 states.
“Too many public parks and other public spaces lack recycling bins that are within reach,” said Brenda Pulley, senior vice president/recycling, Keep America Beautiful. “Our partnership with Dr Pepper Snapple Group has placed bins in hundreds of parks across the U.S., in the process giving nearly 1 million people convenient access to new recycling opportunities.”
In addition to improving recycling opportunities, the grant program will make additional funds available to Keep America Beautiful community-based affiliates and other grant recipients who commit to conducting a Litter Index in conjunction with the grant to help study the effects of the recycling bins to reduce litter in the immediate areas of the bins.
