e-Journal n°27 – September 2019 A Word From… The « OL ANG’ELLES » Team A new season has begun, racing along at the same frantic pace at which last season ended. This edition covers the start of a new season with the same lofty goals: The team aims to defend all its titles and win every available trophy—now 5 in total—even as the competition gets tougher every year. For the OL ANG’ELLES, we aim to once again be present for every match throughout France and in Europe, even as the number of games increases. Avaldsnes / Norway Amsterdam / Netherlands Wolfsburg/Germany Chelsea/England Budapest/Hungary The 1st title has already been secured. Lyon defeated the North Carolina Courage in the United States to take home the WICC title. It’s a tournament that is gaining significance and getting ever closer to a sort of Club World Cup. Even though Lyon won the treble in 2018-19, some of the victories were not easy to come by last year, as Ada explained to OLTV after last year’s final in Budapest: « It was incredible season because it wasn’t obvious that we would win the treble…we showed we can come through even in the difficult moments, and we showed again that we are the best team…it’s a dream ». The presence of Gérard Houiller at practices and many of the matches at the end of the season was a clear precursor to the overhaul of the coaching staff at every level of OL Féminin. A completely new staff, changes to the administrative structure… A new season has begun…but in what mood? Will there be improved relationships with the fans? Will more games be held in full D1 stadiums to build off growing interest in the women’s game following the World Cup?...at least 1 of a possible 5 titles is already in the bag! Mailing Address: OL ANG’ELLES – 11 Impasse Jules Verne – 38080 L’ISLE D’ABEAU Telephone: 07.83.16.21.48 - [email protected] Awards… UEFA Trophy Of the 3 Lyon players named finalists for the title of UEFA’s Women’s Player of the Year, alongside Ada and Amandine, it was LUCY who ultimately took home the trophy.

The darker areas show places where there is a high risk of a Real Madrid shot from the danger zone coming within the next 15 seconds; the lighter areas show places where the risk is low. Corners are one clear risk-zone and, not surprisingly, if the ball is already in the box then the risk of a shot is high. Date issued: 26th February 2018 World Freestyle Champion stars in incredible keepy-up video across Europe to launch UEFA’s #PlayAnywhere campaign Liv Cooke, the Freestyle Football world champion, joined the biggest names in women’s football for one of the most spectacular kick-abouts captured on camera to increase football participation among girls. The 18-year-old was filmed showcasing her outrageous skills hundreds of feet up in a ski lift and on top of a fishing boat as UEFA, European football’s governing body, took seven professional footballers on an amazing journey to encourage girls and young women to take up the sport. Play Anywhere was filmed in 13 unique locations across five countries in 12 days and spanning 16,000km the latest leg of UEFA’s Together #WePlayStrong campaign. As well as Cooke’s awesome football acrobatics, the cast and crew filmed in some of Europe’s most idyllic and uninhabited locations; from the distinctive stone walls of Dubrovnik in southern Croatia, Gspon’s highest pitch in Europe in the Swiss Alps, the tiny island of Eriskay in northern Scotland’s Outer Hebrides to the remote fishing village of Henningsvær in the Lofoten archipelago in Norway. The #PlayAnywhere crack squad included Norwegian sisters Ada and Andrine Hegerberg (of Lyon and Paris Saint Germain respectively) compatriot Maren Mjelde (Chelsea), English quartet Lauren James, Jordan Nobbs (both Arsenal), Fran Kirby (Chelsea) and Alex Greenwood (Liverpool) and FC Barcelona and Netherlands midfielder, Best FIFA Women's Player 2017 and UEFA Women’s Player of the Year 2017 Lieke Martens. Their journey was followed by hundreds of girls across the continent who came to join their heroes as part of UEFA’s ongoing commitment to making football the No.1 sport for girls and women by 2020.

  • Praise for Jeff Goulding's Books
Praise for Jeff Goulding’s Books Red Odyssey: Liverpool FC 1892–2017 ‘This eminently readable and beguiling addition to the Liverpool FC story should adorn every Red’s bookshelf.’ Racing Post ‘Celebrates the club’s incredible journey, recounting tales and memories that tell of friendships, rivalries and of course trophies. He brings to life this pre-war era using his extensive knowledge of the club’s history tallied with reports in local media and club folklore. Provides a complete picture of Liverpool’s colourful history. Here’s looking forward to Red Odyssey part two.’ It’s Round and It’s White ‘A history of Liverpool, but one written in an affectionate way, and from a personal perspective. Particularly informative on the pre-Bill Shankly years, which are much less well documented than the subsequent decades.’ Backpass Magazine We Conquered All of Europe: Red Odyssey II ‘We Conquered All of Europe brings things back to life. Although you know the ending you will still get that funny feeling as you go through this account of what was a wonderful season and how the past four years under Jürgen and company have seen Liverpool Football Club rise again.’ Red All Over the Land ‘Excellent as always. I’d highly recommend it.’ Dave Usher, The Liverpool Way ‘We Conquered All of Europe provides a unique first-hand view from around the stands, from not only Jeff but a plethora of supporters who you discover each find varying degrees of significance in moments which have transpired over the last four years. It’s a journey from the stands, grounded in emotion – with a touch of humour – which is then delicately intertwined with statements from the media and Klopp at the time, with views from former players Jamie Carragher, Jimmy Case and John Barnes also adding another valuable perspective.
