BRAND NEW, The Oicial History of the Women's AAA: The Story of Women's Athletics in England and the UK, Mel Watman, IN THIS oicial history of the Women's Amateur Athletic Association commissioned by the AAA, Mel Watman - who attended his first WAAA Championships at the White City in 1951 - recalls the major personalities and events during 90 years of women's athletics. It's all here from the pioneering days of the early 1920s right through to the London Olympics of 2012 and Jessica Ennis's heptathlon triumph. Highlights of every WAAA Championships meeting from 1923 are included in this book, which contains more than 100 photos, mostly taken by Mark Shearman. There is also a wealth of fascinating trivia. One of the founders of the WAAA in 1922, who was also a high jump and javelin champion, later became as Lady Mary Heath one of the world's most famous aviators. During the 1930s Nellie Halstead won WAAA titles at distances from 100 yards to 3 miles cross country. Anne Pashley, an Olympic 4x100m relay silver medallist in 1956, would become a noted operatic soprano. No fewer than seven women athletes have received the accolade of being voted the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year: Dorothy Hyman, Mary Rand, Mary Peters, Fatima Whitbread, Liz McColgan, Paula Radclie and Kelly Holmes. All of them, together with such other Olympic champions as Ann Packer, Tessa Sanderson, Sally Gunnell, Denise Lewis, Christine Ohuruogu and Jessica Ennis feature prominently in the book. Exhaustive lists of champions in all age groups round o a volume which is in eect the first comprehensive history of British women's athletics and represents, as with the Official History of the AAA (1880-2010), that Association's legacy for the inspiration of future generations of athletes. Hall of Fame 1 INTRODUCTION The scottishathletics Hall of Fame was launched at the Track and Field Championships in August 2005. Olympic gold medallists Allan Wells and Eric Liddell were the inaugural inductees to the scottishathletics Hall of Fame. Wells, the 1980 Olympic 100 metres gold medallist, was there in person to accept the award, as was Patricia Russell, the daughter of Liddell, whose triumph in the 400 metres at the 1924 Olympic Games was an inspiration behind the Oscar-winning film Chariots of Fire. The legendary duo were nominated by a specially-appointed panel consisting of Andy Vince, Joan Watt and Bill Walker of scottishathletics, Mark Hollinshead, Managing Director of Sunday Mail and an on-line poll conducted via the scottishathletics website. The on-line poll resulted in the following votes: 31% voting for Allan Wells, 24% for Eric Liddell and 19% for Liz McColgan. Liz was inducted into the Hall of Fame the following year, along with the Olympic gold medallist Wyndham Halswelle.

What I find shocking is that this has become a race issue. I am American and I am so white, I almost glow in the dark. Does that mean I should trash on this poor child? Come on people, stop making assumtions. Yes, there are lots of jerks who will trash on someone just because they are different, but not all white people are against people of color (Maybe not the polically correct way to say it, but trying to encompass all ethnic backgrounds) and vice-versa.
