RBC EMERGING ARTIST MUSIC MENTORSHIP PRIZE Submission Checklist Applicants must meet the following criteria in order for your submission to be accepted: 1) You are a Canadian Citizen 2) You are a resident of Canada 3) You are currently enrolled in an accredited school or institution within Canada 4) Your parent or guardian has accepted and agreed to the Participants Declaration and Release form (Students under 18 ONLY) 5) Candidates must submit a maximum 60-second video or audio file, of a musical or vocal performance via the entry form on canadaswalkoffame.com in one of the following formats: .MOV, .MPEG4, .AVI, .WMV, .MPEGPS, .FLV, 3GPP, WebM. 6) You are NOT under any other contractual agreement related to your musical performance abilities that would breach your obligations to Canada’s Walk of Fame 7) You are NOT affiliated with any employees, representatives or agents of Canada’s Walk of Fame, The Royal Bank of Canada (“RBC”), or the entity connected with the production, administration and judging of the Competition The RBC Emerging Artist Music Mentorship Prize is supported by the RBC Foundation RBC EMERGING ARTIST MUSIC MENTORSHIP PRIZE OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES 1) INTRODUCTION (a) Canada’s Walk of Fame Inc. (“CWOF” or “Producer”), (in conjunction with RBC Royal Bank) is pleased to announce its inaugural RBC Emerging Artist Music Mentorship Prize (“Competition”), where eligible Participants may audition for a chance to win the Grand Prize (below). (b) Beginning Monday March 3, 2014 at 12:00am Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) (“Submission Commencement Date”), eligible Participants (see paragraphs 2 and 3 below) may submit a Prize Entry Form (“Prize Form”) via CWOF’s website, http://www.canadaswalkoffame.com (the “Website”) for a chance to be selected as the GRAND PRIZE WINNER (“Grand Prize Winner” or “Winners”) of the following Grand Prize, comprising of: (i) A Twenty-Five Thousand Dollar ($25,000 CAN) cash prize (ii) Twenty (20) hours of private studio time at Metalworks studio with an appointed producer, periodically mentored by Rik Emmett and Gil Moore (Triumph); and (iii) Ten (10) hours of studio time in The Tragically Hip’s private studio, mentored by Gord Sinclair; and (iv) CWOF introductions to a minimum of one agent and one recording executive; and (v) A public performance at a CWOF event; and (vi) Music Industry Career Development Mentorship Session with Q & A; and (vii) Album cover artwork design provided by Eric McBain, Creative Director. (collectively the “Grand Prize”) (c) Other Prizes are as follows: (i) A Secondary Prize comprised of: 1. A Five Thousand Dollar ($5,000 CAN) cash prize; and 2. A public performance at a CWOF event; and 3. Music Industry Career Development Mentorship Session with Q & A. (ii) Five Additional Prizes comprised of: 1. A cash prize of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000 CAN); and; 2. A public performance at a CWOF event; and 3. Music Industry Career Development Mentorship Session with Q & A. 2) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPANTS (a) This Competition is only open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and Aboriginals resident in Canada, who meet the Conditions of Entry in paragraph 3 below (herein defined as “eligible Participants” or “Participants”), except those persons who are also: (i) employees, representatives and agents of CWOF, the Royal Bank of Canada (“RBC”), or any of their respective subsidiaries, related, affiliated or parent companies, their respective advertising and/or promotional agencies and/or other sponsors; and any other person or entity connected with the production, administration or judging of the Competition; (ii) immediate family (spouses, parents, siblings and children) and household members of such employees, representatives and agents as described above; or (iii) residents of the Province of Quebec. (b) CWOF reserves the right to request, at any time, valid proof of residency status or citizenship. (c) By entering this Competition, eligible Participants hereby irrevocably agree to comply with these Official Competition Rules (the “Rules”), and agree to abide by all decisions and/or results of all voting conducted in the Competition, which shall be final and binding on all eligible Participants in all matters relating to the Competition. There shall be no right of appeal. To be awarded a Prize, an eligible Participant must comply with all provisions of these Rules. 3) CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS (a) The following requirements are conditions of entry and participation for every eligible Participant in the Competition: (i) Eligible Participants must currently be enrolled at an accredited Canadian educational institution (i.e. a provincially or federally recognized primary, secondary or post-secondary school) on a part-time or full- time basis; (ii) Eligible Participants cannot enter or have entered into any contractual, commercial, sponsorship or other agreements related to his or her musical performance abilities and/or singing abilities that are in breach of these Rules and Participant’s Declaration and Release Form (the “Participant’s Release”); (iii) Eligible Participants cannot enter or have previously entered into any contractual, commercial sponsorship or other professional arrangement(s) with respect to his/her musical performance and/or singing abilities; (iv) Eligible Participants must not have a criminal record or any pending criminal charges; and (v) Eligible Participants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada or Aboriginals resident in Canada, but must not be residents of Quebec. (vi) Eligible Participants shall be required to provide proof of eligibility upon request by CWOF. 4) ONLINE SUBMISSIONS (a) Between March 3, 2014 at 12:00am E.S.T until April 30, 2014 at 11:59pm E.S.T (“Submission Entry Period”), eligible Participants may enter the Competition by submitting: (i) An accepted Participant’s Release (to be accepted by parent or legal guardian of eligible Participant if eligible Participant is below the age of 18 years as of the Submission Commencement Date); (ii) A completed Prize Form, which must contain the following two (2) elements: (a) completed contact information for the eligible Participant; and (b) one (1) 60-second video or audio file, of a musical or vocal performance via the entry form on canadaswalkoffame.com in one of the following formats: .MOV, .MPEG4, .AVI, .WMV, .MPEGPS, .FLV, 3GPP, WebM. (either a vocal performance, instrumental performance or a combination thereof) (the “Online Audition”). The Online Audition must be no longer than one (1) minute [sixty (60) seconds] in length. following the instructions on our Website and these Rules. (collectively the“Online Submission”) (b) The Online Submission is MANDATORY for an eligible Participant to enter the Competition. However, CWOF and its associates and/or affiliates assume no liability whatsoever with respect to any failure to receive or review any Online Submission(s). (c) Online Submissions will be reviewed by CWOF’s internal judging panel (“CWOF Judges”). The members of this panel shall be selected by CWOF in its absolute discretion and shall not be made public. The CWOF Judges shall vote on all entries received from eligible Participants and select the Prize Winners. (d) PLEASE NOTE: Only ONE (1) Online Submission may be submitted per eligible Participant. Multiple Participants are not permitted to share the same email address. Any attempt by any participant to obtain more than one entry by using different email addresses, identities, registrations, or through any other method, will void a Participant’s entries. Entries received shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the entry. For the purpose of these Rules, “authorized account holder” of an email address is defined as the natural personal who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. CWOF may require eligible Participant to provide proof he/she is the authorized account holder if required. (e) Alternative Method for Entry:In the event the eligible Participant is unable to submit the Online Submission as provided for above, the eligible Participant may also submit a hard copy of the Participant’s Release, and Participant’s Prize Form along with a DVD containing the eligible Participant’s audition by regular mail to the following address: Canada’s Walk of Fame RBC Emerging Artist Music Mentorship Prize 210 St. Clair West, 3rd Floor Toronto, ON M4V 1R2 Please Note: Auditions submitted by mail must be received by CWOF prior to the Submission End Date. Submissions shall not be returned. 5) COMPETITION END DATE The closing date for Online Submissions and Mailed Submissions is April 30, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. EST (the “Submission End Date”). 6) SELECTION PROCESS (a) After the Submission End Date and review of the Submissions by the CWOF Judges, those selected as the top 25 finalists will be required to provide proof of enrolment in an accredited Canadian school or institution. (b) After the Submission End Date, the top 20-25 Online Submissions will be presented to the CWOF Judges who will then choose the Grand Prize Winner, the Secondary Winner and the Five additional Winners (c) On a date within four (4) months following the Submission End Date (said actual date to be determined), the Grand Prize WINNER, the Secondary Winner and the Five additional Winners
