The E.C.H.S. Yellow Jackets started off their 1956-57 Football

Season by beating a powerful Roxboro Eleven, 14 to 0. In the next non-conference game, the Jackets pushed over a touchdown in the last

quarter to defeat Chowan College J.V.'s 6 to 0. Our next game started off our conference schedule. Washington took a 20 to 6 victory which

proved later to be our only loss of the season. Roanoke Rapids fell be- fore the Jackets easily by a score of 33 to 14. E. City came out of Eden ton with happy faces and a 20 to victory—Poor old Edenton!

Greenville showed no signs of competition losing 33 to and Kinston

fulfilled our homecoming hopes bowing 19 to 13. The next victim of our fighting Jackets was New Bern who went home with 6 points while E. City had 13. Not so pleased with just 13 points against New Bern,

the Jackets took it out on Jacksonville, whipping them 46 to 6. The Jackets made Hertford sing "Knee Deep in the Blues" by winning

12 to 7. The Jackets finished second in the conference winning 5 and

losing 1 and having a 9 and 1 overall record. Elizabeth City won the sportsmanship trophy for the conference.
