Madden * Term expired March 18, 1939. t Resided December 1, 1939. : : The State of New Hampshire To the Inhabitants of the Town of Milton in the County of Strafford, in said State, qualified to vote in Town Affairs: You are hereby notified to meet at the Town House in said Town on Tuesday, the twelfth day of March next, at nine-thirty of the clock in the forenoon to act on the following subjects 1. To bring in your ballots for Town Officers. 2. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for repairing highways and bridges for the ensuing year. 3. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed four thousand dollars ($4,000.00) to pay for breaking roads and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 4. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed six hundred dollars ($600.00) for sidewalk construction and repair and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 5. By petition of Peter J. Lover and nine others To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to oil Church Street, so-called, and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 6. To see if the Town will vote to accept State Aid for construction of the Class II road known as Union to Farmington road and raise and appropriate or set aside for said purpose the sum of two thousand two hundred and twenty-three dollars ($2,223.00) ; or will accept State Aid for the construction of Class V roads Town of Milton 5 and raise and appropriate or set aside for said purpose the sum of four hundred ninety-one dollars and thirty- nine cents ($491.39). 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed five hundred dol- lars ($500.00) to be expended on the highway leading from Milton Mills village to the Wakefield town line, known as the Berry Hill Road, and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 8. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) toward reconstruction and oiling Highland Avenue, so-called, in the village of Milton Mills and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 9. By petition of Agnes Goodwin and twelve others: To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) to be expended on the Nute Ridge-South Milton highway leading from the Farmington-Milton highway past the Nute Chapel to the State Highway at South Milton. 10. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed three hundred dollars ($300.00) to be expended on private roads lead- ing from "New Bridge" road, so-called, to cottages. 11. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to pay Town charges and ex- penses and pass any other vote or votes relative there- to. 12. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) for the maintenance of hydrants in the Milton Fire Precinct. 13. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed seven hundred : 6 Annual Report and fifty dollars ($750.00) for maintenance of the Fire Department for the ensuing year and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 14. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to pay the First and Second Engineers and Firemen in addition to the amount allowed by law ; to see how much per hour the Town will vote to pay the Engineers and Firemen while fighting fires and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 15. By petition of W. H. Langley and ten others To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money not to exceed three hundred dollars ($300.00) for the purpose of maintenance of the Fire Engine in the Milton Mills Fire District. 16. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed two thousand four hundred dollars ($2,400.00) for the maintenance of street lights for the ensuing year. 17. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed one hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00) for Memorial Day expenses. 18. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00) for the benefit of the Free Public Li- brary at Milton Mills and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 19. To see if the Town will authorize the Select- men to hire on notes of the Town a sum of money neces- sary to pay current expenses in anticipation of taxes of 1940 and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. 20. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money necessary to obtain W. P. A. and N. Y. A. Projects and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto. : Town of Milton 7 21. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of one hundred and forty-five dollars ($145.00) to the Lakes Region Association of New Hampshire for the issuance and distribution of printed matter, newspaper and magazine advertising, calling attention to the resources and natural advantages of the Town in cooperation with other towns in the Lakes Region. 22. By petition of Fred McGregor and nine others : To see if the Town will vote to take such action as may be deemed necessary to determine the liability of State and Town Highway Departments when ob- structing private driveways, or approaches to U. S. mail boxes on rural routes, with snow. 23. By petition of Sadie Sinnott and nine others To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) to be expended on the highway leading from Milton Branch to the Wakefield town line and pass any other vote or votes relative thereto.
