The Problem Solvers Caucus has announced that their membership has grown to 56 congress members (28 Democrats and 28 Republicans). This is a huge development for the organization and bodes well for their future efforts. Gov. Larry Hogan is also now the national co-chair. NLPSNH members could not reach consensus as a group on supporting HR 1: For the People Act, but many felt the election reforms, efforts to fix gerrymandering, and reforms involving money in politics continue to be important and need to be addressed. It was felt by some that the bill was too long and inclusive and that it would be better if more items were handled separately.

An effort to reform the electoral college system is being supported by the National Popular Vote Compact and members were encouraged to learn more about this at their website.

What is needed: No Labels NH Website No Labels: Problem Solvers of New Hampshire (NLPSNH) is looking for individuals who want to help educate NH voters and support problem-solving in Congress. In addition, the NH chapter promotes national No Labels engagement and support of issue-specific policy items. Upcoming efforts will include looking at encouraging New Hampshire legislative contingent to “Get in the Room” for bicameral discussions of key issues in Washington, DC and to join the Problem Solvers Caucus. COMMON DENOMINATOR GOVERNMENT

Common Denominator Government is one of the many concepts in Consuming Government, CLICK HERE for the section that introduces the Common Denominator Government idea. Overview video: For most Americans, their largest annual purchase is government services. Yet we are irresponsible consumers! If we chose to invest comparable time and effort, we could reap better value at less cost year after year. Furthermore, the United States could enjoy a global economic competitive advantage once our actions lead to the most cost effective and efficient government among developed nations.

The keystone of this transformation rests with individual citizens and not elected officials or political parties. Our challenge is to motivate ourselves to initiate a cultural shift toward greater civic responsibility.

The secret sauce is to start locally on the smallest levels of government services, then, as our management skills, tools and habits grow, expand upwards to broader layers of government services. From there, solutions can be driven upwards through communities versus the current stagnation from our oscillating political party control. The multitude of ideas introduced in this book can serve as a catalyst to align interests, talents and passions of our citizens for this civic culture transformation.
