Autism Friendly Theatre and Live Entertainment Birmingham Repertory Theatre Relaxed performances are designed to welcome people with a learning disability or sensory and communication conditions, or anyone that would benefit from a more relaxed performance environment. There is an autism friendly screening of The Lion King on Sunday 4th August at 11am Showcase On the second Sunday every month at 10am an Autism friendly screening is available in Showcase cinemas. For the for first hour of opening every Saturday, the store switches off its music and tries to make the shop floor as calm as possible. Bullring & Grand Central (Quiet Hour at Selfridges) Quiet Hour will take place every Thursday and will mean no music will be played from 9.30am until 11am, giving shoppers an hour and a half to enjoy the store in peace and quiet. intu at Merry Hill On the first Wednesday of every month at intu Merry Hill, between 10:00am and 11:00am aim to make shopping more accessible for autistic people Once Upon a Time... Tea Parlour Once Upon a Time is are a tea parlour based on the outskirts of Birmingham. As a family themed tea parlour there are crazy desserts, sandwich bar, ice cream counter, cakes, hotdogs, popcorn machine, slush machine, coffee machines x3, toastie maker, microwave, waffle makers, fridges, freezers. They also have a full entertainment system with a huge cinema screen fitted. The centre, which hosts art, technology and science workshops, has just undergone a seven-month transformation. You can get paninis, noodles, salads, quiches and coffee at the conveniently located cafe which is close to Bullring, Grand Central and New Street Station. Cadbury World: have launched new sessions for visitors with autism or SEN requirements so they can enjoy a quieter and calmer experience. Relaxed sessions at Cadbury World will run on the following dates: · Sunday 22 September – 9:30am · Sunday 13 October – 9:30am · Sunday 10 November – 3:40pm Autism Assistance at Birmingham Airport Birmingham Airport understands that Airports can be very stressful environments, and this is especially the case for passengers with autism To assist these passengers, they have worked very closely with Autism West Midlands and OCS their Special Assistance Provider to produce a video which details each step of the journey to enable the viewer to experience the sights and sounds of the Airport before they travel. Two booklets have been produced that can be downloaded from their website - the first booklet is for children with Autism and shows the journey through the Airport in pictures and words, there are boxes to tick throughout the journey and a few fun facts along the way! The second booklet contains top tips for adults with Autism and also for parents and carers of children with Autism. Daily fun, creative and physical activities and lunch will be provided for all participants.
