FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT® FOR HEALTHY LIVING FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY THE HARRISBURG AREA YMCA 2012 Annual Report A PLace TO LEARN, GROW, THRIVE. THERE IS NO ORGANIZatiON QUITE LIKE THE YMCA. That’s because in many neighborhoods across our service area, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change. We work tirelessly every day to nurture the potential of kids, improve the community’s health and well- being, and give back and support our neighbors. We recognize for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. To that end, last year we gave away more than $3.8 million in financial assistance and subsidized programs and services to ensure that 18,786 of our neighbors, regardless of age, income or background, had the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Our sights are set on the future. The Board of Directors has worked hard on a new strategic plan that will increase our impact on our community and the furtherance of our mission. At the Y, we’re not simply changing the lives of people in our community today. We are building an entire legacy of change. One that will shape the future of generations to come. And we couldn’t do it without the hard work and generous support of our partners, volunteers, donors, staff and members. Thank you for playing a part in building the foundations of community in the greater Harrisburg Area. Please enjoy our 2012 Annual Report. Yours in Service, Mark G. Caldwell Richard A.
