QUICKSPECS SCO UnixWare 7 . Overview . Announced in March 1997, UnixWare 7 is the latest UNIX operating system from SCO, the world’s leading UNIX . provider. The UnixWare 7 system delivers a multi-functional, scalable UNIX operating environment based on the . SVR5 kernel, with tightly integrated enterprise networking services which are ideal for business critical . computing. The Compaq Recovery Server Option increases system availability for UnixWare 7 environments by allowing . one Compaq ProLiant or ProSignia server to act as a standby for another similarly configured ProLiant or . Prosignia server. In the Standby Recovery Server configuration, two Compaq servers are attached to a common . set of ProLiant Storage Systems that contain a single copy of the operating system, application and data. If the . primary server fails, each ProLiant Storage System automatically switches from the primary to the recovery . server. The recovery server then boots and the system is back online in minutes, without administrator intervention. The . Compaq Standby Recovery Server is a server configuration provided by the Compaq Recovery Server Option.
