Parish Life Vol 2 ~ May 2020 St. Theresa/St. Kunegunda ~ Three Lakes/Sugar Camp ~ P.O. Box 8 Three Lakes, WI 54562 V.2~May, 2020 Two Parishes, One Mission In time of worry and stress… cling to prayer In recent months our country has faced an unprecedented situation with the onset of COVID-19. Across the world we have seen something that has never happened before, business forced to shut down, people asked to stay home, parish doors closed to the faithful. This has caused great anxiety for many people causing questions like; where is God in all of this? Why did God let this happen? To start, he is here with us through it all. He never leaves us. Especially in trying times, it is important for us to remember that our Lord never promised us that this world would be easy, without fear, Never too young to inspire. illness or pain. He does however, promise us that “Therefore do not Matteo Farina had a self declared he will be with us always. A Journey in Faith A great way to begin my day is to start with prayer thanking our Lord for all He does for me, for the beautiful day He has given me, for my family and of course to ask Him for whatever needs I have. Eventually I experienced the need to know more about Jesus, the Bible and our Church. I was invited to participate in an evangelical bible study and I spoke to my priest about joining the study. He told me it was okay but to remember that they read and interpreted the Bible differently than we did. I joined the study with an open mind. The presenter was a lively, dynamic speaker. The homework was challenging with engaging discussions. As we went through the studies, I began to see things that were questionable to me. It became apparent to me that I needed to become involved with Catholic Bible studies. My daughter invited me to attend a presentation by Jeff Cavins, a Catholic evangelist. His inspiring talk left me with a desire to learn more. I purchased his study Matthew and worked on the study independently. I then searched out other studies from Ascension Press as well as the St Paul Center. I began to attend and facilitate studies in our parish. Studying together with others was very rewarding. These studies became an important part of my day. When our church subscribed to Formed, I encountered another tool to enhance my daily devotions. Studying with theologians such as Dr. Ed Sri and Dr. Scott Hahn, and other experts in the Bible and Catholicism gives me a better understanding of the life of Jesus, the Bible and our Catholic faith. It gives me an awareness of the gifts God has given to me and ways to use those gifts to better serve Him. By inviting God into my heart and receiving the gift of faithfulness, I experience a sense of peace during these troubled times. ~Emmy Nitzel Bible Study & Formation Opportunities… Wednesday Bible Study formed.org ascensionpresents.com Meeting weekly from Movies, studies, relevantradio.com ebooks, and more for 10-11:30 am to discuss stpaulcenter.com both adults & kids! the upcoming weekend readings. Hundreds of these people are under 19 years of age. All of them are capable of sharing a iiving faith with great love, embracing their mission in the world. Please pray for them. The Book of Wisdom in the 1st reading reminds us that our God has the responsibility of the care of all of us. This God is good and forgiving as suggested by the refrain in Psalm 86, because God is the master of might. Wisdom reminds us this weekend that it is our God who judges with clemency. Our generation is like every generation before us, there is a great harvest and we are called to work in the harvest. For this reason, I will share stories of young people of faith in our time period, during the coming weeks. Thank you, Fr. Tim O’Malley, Pastor Matteo Farina (1990-2009) from Brindisi, Italy, spent his short life surrounded by love of his family, friends, parish community and girlfriend. Like other people his age he played sports and cultivated hobbies, including music and playing musical instruments.

Next weekend, being the First Sunday of Advent, we were all expecting to hear the official announcement from Archbishop Vigneron regarding the intention for forming the new Families of Parishes in the Archdiocese of Detroit, but it has recently been communicated to us that this will not happen until December 11. It has been communicated to us also that Archbishop Vigneron is intending to have a pastoral letter available to us on the topic of Families of Parishes instead. We do know that there will be fifty-one total Families in the Archdiocese, and it is very highly likely we will be in Wave One. The move to Families of Parishes will be a major restructuring and we will begin planning for it in January to begin to feel the impact of it July 1, 2021. There will be many adjustments that will be made as time goes on for all of us, especially a “mental grasp” or “mental picture” of what our Church will become.

  • Is the Mission of the Church, Not Just of a Few, but My, Your, Our Mission
“ Evangelization is the mission of the Church, not just of a few,“ but my, your, our mission. – Pope Francis ST. JOHN BOSCO CATHOLIC CHURCH May 17, 2020 The Pastor Jots It Down… My dear parishioners of St. John Bosco, Christ’s peace be with you today and always! “Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed the Christ to them. With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Philip when they heard it” The Samaritans sought Baptism and committed themselves to believe in, accept the teachings of and follow the example of Jesus Christ. Then, great things happened, and the scriptures tell us: “There was great joy in that city.” Just think what our parish, our community, our state, our country and our world would be like if all of us like the Samaritans sincerely listened to God’s word -- came to believe, accept and live that truth in our daily lives. Then all peoples would live as God created them to be -- both holy and happy. For me the message of the 1st reading can be summed up in one word: EVANGELIZATION. That means bringing the Good News of Jesus into every human situation and seeking to convert individuals and society by the power of the Gospel. This involves proclamation of salvation in Jesus and the response of a person in faith. Both are works of the Holy Spirit. On today’s bulletin cover, we see the words of Pope Francis: “EVANGELIZATION is the mis- sion of the Church, not just of a few, but my, your, our mission.” By virtue of our Baptism, each one of us has been called and sent to evangelize.
