FOOTBALL

Fourths Well round 5 took us down to Tooradin to play the top team by a long way. We knew that it was going to be a challenge and I asked our boys to just keep taking the game on and use the game as a learning curve. They threw everything at the opponent in the first quarter and at quarter time I was exceptionally proud of them, the Tooradin coach was yelling at his players which made us realise, we had taken it up to them. Our backline held up as long as it could through some great work by Wheels, TK, and Noah but eventually the dam broke and Tooradin showed us why they are the best team in the Comp. Unfortunately, we lost another 2 players to injury which really has made it tough for us this season but we will fight on. Our best were Wheels, TK, Maxi, Tommy, Noah, Checkers (injured) and T-Dub. Bring on Round 6. Reserves Our first trip to Tooradin in the WGFNC. And we met a very good Seagulls outfit. Fit, well drilled and with system that gets results. But don’t look at the scoreboard, the boys had a 4-quarter crack, at no point did they turn off. There will be better days. Get yourselves to training and commit to the boys around you. Best were M. Kennewell, J. O’Leary, J. Anthony, J. Harris, J. Dunn, T. Loughridge. Seniors Last week a perfect day for football saw us take on one of the ladder leaders in Tooradin. After a slow first half the boys came out after half time and played their best quarter for the year, putting pressure on the Tooradin side and hitting the scoreboard. Unfortunately, our efforts couldn’t be sustained in the fourth quarter and Tooradin ran away easy winners. We showed some of the football we are capable of playing and our challenges continues to be improving our skill level and sustaining our effort for longer in games.
