Music Instrument Tutors Brendan Doyle L.T.C.L, B.A.(Mus) – Woodwind After completing his classical music degree in his native Waterford, Brendan has since become a stalwart of the music scene. Versatility being his forte, he is equally at home in theatre, symphony concerts or jazz ensembles. He features regularly as both soloist and ensemble player with groups/artists as diverse as the National Symphony Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra. He is a founder member of The Irish Youth Jazz Orchestra, The Irish Youth Wind Ensemble and The Irish Jazz Orchestra. He is currently Musical Director of the Dublin City Jazz Orchestra. He has played with several Irish and International jazz luminaries including Louis Stewart, Noel Kelehan, Kenny Wheeler, Chucho Valdes, Kurt Elling and most recently John Scofield. He is also much in demand in the commercial scene having worked with noted artists such as Jack Jones, Shirley Bassey, Colm Wilkinson, Kenny Rogers, Camille O’Sullivan, and Rebecca Storm. He has recorded several jazz albums both as a leader and group member and recently has been involved in a number of crossover/ethnic recording projects. He has worked in professional theatre since his early teens and has toured the UK, and North America with productions as diverse as West Side Story, The Threepenny Opera (Gate Theatre), Barnum and the Show. His teaching credits include work as instrumental teacher in WIT,Cork School of Music (CIT), DIT and as external examiner to the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Barbara was born in The Czech Republic, She studied at the Pilsen Conservatory where she graduated as a Professional Diploma Teacher, Performer and Accompanist. She has performed with Accordion Orchestra Marien Band and also with Nepomuk Choir. The Choir and Orchestra periodically participated regionally and has won many awards in national music competitions. She also performed with many solo players. Barbara has over ten years’ experience as a piano teacher. In , she has been working since 2006. In present she teaches at St. Vincent´s Castleknock College, Castleknock School of music and Jacqui´s Music School. Also, accompaniment is the large part of her work.

Leo Morris & Tony Mellon Guitar and Banjo

Leo Morris is a professional touring musician and music tutor from co Sligo. He currently performs and writes with contemporary folk group Old Hannah. Leo is experienced in many different styles and genres and specialises in roots music, playing the acoustic guitar and 5 string banjo. His lessons tailor to all musical styles and playing abilities in a relaxed learning environment. Tony Mellon studied with Pat Conway (Classical) and Louis Stewart (Jazz) before becoming a full-time musician in 1982. For the following 13 years, he toured and performed in Europe, , and the USA. In 1995 he set up his own recording studio and teaching practice. He has considerable experience working with both groups and individuals. He brings an extensive repertoire of classical, rock and folk music to his teaching of guitar, bass, five- string banjo and mandolin and can advise on the purchase and care of instruments. After his studies at the conservatory in Prague and Pilsen, he accepted engagement in the Westbohemian Symphony Orchestra, where he played trumpet for six years. Since 2007 he was studying at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, in the class of James Cavanagh, and Colm Byrne. He cooperates with leading Irish orchestras including RTE National Symphony Orchestra, RTE Concert Orchestra, Orchestra of St.Cecilia, Hibernian Symphony orchestra, Opera of Ireland, Dublin Symphony Orchestra, and many others. Martin Smutny is a brass teacher in Castleknock College, , and Newpark School of Music. As a soloist he reaped the success not only from critics, but also from the audience throughout the World.

In 2010, Ian took to the stage at the Giza Pyramids in Cairo, , in his role as percussionist for Riverdance. He has played in iconic surroundings, such as New York's Radio City Music Hall, LA's Pantages theatre, Orchard Hall Tokyo, Teatro Municipal De Las Condes in Santiago Chile, Dublin's Olympia & Gaiety Theatre’s and massive venues, including Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, Aviva Stadium & the O2 in Dublin. Along his travels, Ian has played with Riverdance, The Women of Ireland, , Frankie Gavin, the West Seventies, Robin James Hurt, Don Baker, Donal Lunny, Michael McGoldrick, Carlos Nunez, Camille O'Sullivan, , Brendan Grace, Barry 'The Fish' Melton. Having graduated from Queen’s University of Music in , Suzanne’s career highlights include appearing at SXSW, supporting (at his personal invitation), singing as backing vocalist and violinist with , Eleanor McEvoy and Jimmy Cobb, performing as a soloist with The Florence Symphony Orchestra, RTE Orchestra, Riverdance and touring with the critically acclaimed choir New Dublin Voices, to name but a select few. She is also currently teaching violin and voice at Walton’s New School of Music and Castle Park Primary in Dalkey. She is musical director to Oblate Gospel Choir and Dublin-based chamber choir “The Lost Keys”. In her critically-acclaimed solo music, Suzanne is heavily influenced by jazz and Irish songwriters and informed by her experience as a performer of funk, heavy rock, drum and bass, contemporary classical music and everything in between.
