Development Authority Introduction In 2005, the Commonwealth of Virginia adopted regulations requiring all regions and localities to prepare plans identifying their water sources, projected future water needs and conservation tactics. According to the regulations, these Water Supply Plans (WSP) could be prepared by an individual locality or by a region consisting of at least two separate localities. Fauquier County, the Town of Remington and the Town of The Plains opted to work together on a plan for the region. This work involved data collection by two distinct water suppliers as well as statistical data collection to account for the many rural self-supplied water users throughout the region.
