Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; Parishes of Elstead, one belonged to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, Thursley, Shackleford and Peper Harow he looked back at the footprints in the sand. he noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest Let Light Perpetual and saddest times in his life. Shine Upon Them This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that at the worst times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. How could you leave me when I needed you the most?" The Lord replied " My precious, precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." This very special service provides an occasion to 10 am Communion and Zoom from St James’, Elstead commemorate those who have died, and give thanks for all that they 4.00 pm Service of Remembering and Hope at St James have meant to us over the years. 4.00 pm Service of Remembering and Hope at St Mary’s During the service we will have the opportunity to light a candle, in Sunday 8th Remembrance Sunday memory of a loved one. 8 am BCP Communion - St James’, Elstead 10.15 am Remembrance Service - St James’ Elstead This service is designed to be quiet and reflective as we remember those 10.15 am Remembrance Service - St Mary’s Shackleford of our families and friends who have died, whilst at the same time 10.15 am Remembrance Service - St Michael’s, Thursley affirming that they and all the departed are not forgotten but are still known to, loved by and cared for by God, and that one day we shall be Sunday 15th Second before Advent reunited with them.
