Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, & Mexico November 2020 Region 6 Updates from Director Jeff Davis I hope many of you were able to participate in the virtual VenueConnect a couple weeks ago. While I missed seeing many of you in person in the traditional format, it was good sharing ideas and learning from each other as we all work to navigate to the current state of our industry. I would like to take a few minutes to share with you some of the work your Region 6 Leadership has before us. We have had several people reach out regarding the new State/Country representative positions. In the coming weeks, the region officers will be reviewing the interest and adding these roles to help us better connect with all of you, our membership. As many of you know, we canceled our Region 6 Conference back in April due to the pandemic. Our officers are looking at the feedback from the virtual VenueConnect conference and exploring options for a potential 2021 conference. As part of our planning process, we’ll be reaching out to get your feedback. Watch for additional communications on this. As a result of the pandemic, we’ve had a change in a couple of our officer positions. Meredith Imes was offered a new role at Texas Tech with their emergency management operations working on the University’s COVID response. We’re certainly excited for her in this new role. With her departure from our region leadership, Nick Zazal is stepping up to fill the Assistant Director role for Region 6.

  • Is There Enough Money and Talent in D-FW to Support All These Midsize Concert Venues?
Is there enough money and talent in D-FW to support all these midsize concert venues? Mar. 5, 2018 6:00am With the recent openings of Canton Hall and the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, Dallas-Fort Worth is now officially saturated with midsize concert venues, many of them competing for the same shows. But is this boom in midsize venues a boon for pop and rock lovers? Or is the competition driving up ticket prices and making life more difficult for independent promoters? The answer is "all of the above." Midsize venues are bigger than nightclubs and smaller than sports arenas, and hold between 1,000 and 8,000 fans — a spectrum that includes more than 15 places in D-FW ranging from oversize honky-tonks like Billy Bob's Texas to fancy joints like the Majestic Theatre and the Winspear Opera House. Several new midsize spaces have popped up in recent years, including Gas Monkey Live and the revamped Bomb Factory, as well as Canton Hall in Deep Ellum and Toyota Music Factory in Irving, which holds up to 4,000 for indoor shows and 8,000 for outdoor concerts. (See accompanying list.) On the one hand, the more, the merrier, says Gary Bongiovanni, editor of the concert industry publication Pollstar. "It's nice to be blessed with those kind of riches in your market. ... It gives fans more of a choice," he says. of venues can put a dent in the wallets of concertgoers. "In the concert business, competition between promoters tends to drive prices up," he says.

OTHER HOCKEY LEAGUES {Appendix 4.1, to Sports Facility Reports, Volume 15} Research completed as of August 15, 2014 AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE (AHL) (AAA) League Update: The AHL had three team changes in 2013–2014: The Connecticut Whale changed their name back to the Hartford Wolf Pack; the Houston Aeros relocated to Des Moines, Iowa and became the Iowa Wild; and the Peoria Rivermen moved to the Southern Professional Hockey League. With the relocation of the Abbotsford Heat (now Adirondack Flames) and the Adirondack Phantoms (now Lehigh Valley Phantoms), the AHL realigned the league. The Flames will be play in the North Division and the Phantoms will be playing in the East Division. The Syracuse Crunch moved from the East Division to the Northeast Division. Lake Erie moved from the North Division to the Midwest Division and the Iowa Wild moved from the Midwest to the West Division. Additionally, the NHL and AHL have discussed moving teams west in order to accommodate the NHL's western franchises. Having teams on the west coast would make player transfers easier from the minor leagues to the NHL for the western teams. Newsletter Colorado New Mexico Oklahoma Arkansas Texas Kansas Mexico October 2019 SPECTRA, BUDWEISER EVENTS CENTER AT THE RANCH ANNOUNCE ROUND-UP FOR CHARITY INITIATIVE RECIPIENT FOR 2019-2020 SEASON Spectra, the providers of Venue Management, Food Services and Partnerships for the Budweiser Events Center at The Ranch, announced a brand-new initiative this summer for the upcoming 2019-2020 season. Round-Up for Charity will be a new feature on the venue ticketing website in which patrons will be able to round-up their event ticket orders to the nearest dollar amount as a donation to a local charitable organization. “The Spectra team at the Budweiser Events Center is committed to giving back to Northern Colorado and we felt this was an opportunity for us to leverage our tens of thousands of ticket transactions annually for the benefit of a local organization.” said Keller Taylor, Spectra District General Manager at the Budweiser Events Center. “This new initiative gives ticket purchasers the chance to directly support one of the many great organizations in Northern Colorado.” The process began with the charity submission form. All charitable organizations were reviewed by staff at the Budweiser Events Center, rated, and then selected based upon the results of the review process. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County were selected as the recipient of the proceeds from the initiative. Proceeds from the Round-Up for Charity Initiative will be collected during the 2019-2020 season, which begins in September 2019 and ends on July 1, 2020. "We are honored to be selected as the recipient for the Round-Up for Charity Initiative at the Budweiser Events Center,” said Boys & Girls Club of Larimer County Executive Director Kaycee Headrick.
