Puffer served as coach for several of the Freestate teams, including teams in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL). He coached the Freestate Shooters squad that won the 2007 US Club Soccer National Championship, the 2008 & 2009 Maryland State Cup and were the 2009 U19 Region 1 Championship Finalists. The Shooters had several players named to the youth and full US Women’s National Teams as well as numerous honors at the collegiate level. Puffer spent 10 years working with the Maryland and New Hampshire Olympic Devel- opment Programs, coaching on both the boys and girls sides. He assisted with the US Soccer Training Center player identification program as well as serving as an ECNL Scout. In 2010, Puffer was named to the USL Super Y-League ODP National Camp Staff. Puffer served as an assistant coach at Stevenson University from 2007 until he joined the Towson staff. At Stevenson, Puffer assisted with all aspects and training for a team that compiled a 60-34-10 record in five seasons. In 2010, Stevenson won a conference championship and made an appearance in the NCAA Championships. Puffer earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in psychology from Allegheny College in 1999.
