The band’s first album, ‘Khoj’ is about a search for identity, a quest to understand our own nature. It is in moments of disconnection from our own selves that the journey inward begins – Khoj, an intense and passionately crafted musical journey, captures these moments through hard, edgy Hindi rock music.
The album has a strong theme across all songs both musically as well as lyrically, touching topics such as ethics, identity crises, hope, greed, chaos and realization – emotions that are a part of our everyday lives. The music is thought provoking, hard rock with elements of reggae, ambient, electronica. Through Khoj, the band elegantly integrates their diverse backgrounds and love for music into a coherent masterpiece that is set to re-define Hindi Rock.
The album also features guest performances by guitar virtuoso Baiju Dharmajan (ex-Motherjane), Gaurav Chintamani (Advaita), Indian classical singer Rini Rajput and Sid Mathur (Cynaide). T H E A L B U M T H E A L B U M V A R U N R A J P U T
Founder, lead singer, guitar player and producer of the band, he loves to try his hand on various instruments, record and compose music. A tireless worker, Varun is always dedicated and determined to improve on the music, production quality, performance and every tiny bit around it. He is also known for his work and collaborations with artistes such as Harshdeep Kaur, Parikrama, Baiju Dharmajan, Under Seige and Feedback.
Other than being a versatile musician he is also an engineer from DCE, a former management consultant, a state level hockey player and an amateur writer.
He derives inspiration from artistes like Daniel Gildenlow, Dream Theater, A.R. Rahman, and Pink Floyd. J O S H U A P E T E R
Trained in western classical piano and contemporary pop vocals, Joshua draws his influence from both acoustic and electronic styles of music. His love to experiment with different soundscapes adds a very unique character to the band’s sound.
Fiddling with his keyboard at the age of 12 is how his journey began. Receiving early music education in his church choir, he comes with a hint of gospel music in his playing.
Having worked as a western contemporary vocal coach and a classical piano trainer for many years, he has trained various a-capella groups and school choirs and has also been awarded a certificate for excellence in teaching by the ‘Rockschool of London’. S O C I A L M E D I A C O N T A C T U S
