ACADEMIC TEACHING EXPERIENCE 2018–present Part-Time Lecturer | Northeastern University, College of Arts, Media and Design, Department of Music • MUSC 1116, Beethoven, spring 2018, summer 2018, spring 2019, summer 2019, fall 2019, summer 2020, and fall 2020 This class is an online, undergraduate-level course for non-majors; it examines the historical contexts surrounding Beethoven and his music and considers the composer’s significance in the centuries following his death and into the current time. The course presents the following topics: Defining Beethoven; Beethoven and Politics; Beethoven’s Life and Works; Beethoven and Disability; Beethoven and Race; and Beethoven and Film. • MUSC 3337, Writing about Music, spring 2019 Through intensive reading, listening to, and writing about music, this undergraduate-level course for majors offers students significant opportunity to develop their skills in writing, editing, research, and interview techniques as they apply to writing about music and the music industry. Students will gain familiarity with the history of writing about music, diverse publication venues, and key genres such as album reviews, artist interviews and profiles, trend or issue features, and cultural criticism. This a workshop- style course, with substantial class time devoted to discussion, writing exercises, and peer critiques.

2016–2017 Instructor of Record | Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music, Musicology Department • M510, Women and Music, spring 2017 This class is a graduate-level course for students in the Jacobs School of Music that examines women’s participation in music of the Western world through a series of case studies from various periods in history. The course introduces students to feminist methodologies and explores women as composers, performers, and patrons in addition to evaluating the representation of women in opera and other genres. It considers how music reflects, engages with, and questions ideas about gender and sexuality. Students are guided through the process of writing a research paper of 10–15

Doran - 8 LANGUAGES French reading, speaking, and translation ability • I took a completely immersive, seven-week French course at Middlebury College during summer 2018. At the end of the level-one course, I tested into the upper intermediate level, which is described as follows: “Level 3 is for students who have had significant previous instruction in French and are already able to function independently in full immersion. Typically, students at this level demonstrate textual/writing ability beyond the sentence level.” I also passed a translation-based proficiency exam as a requirement for my PhD. German reading and translation ability • I completed a graduate-level German translation course as part of my master’s degree at Bowling Green State University, and I passed a translation-based proficiency exam as a requirement for my PhD. Spanish reading, speaking, and translation ability • I took three semesters of Spanish as an undergraduate and would be able to develop and/or rekindle basic Spanish skills quickly if need be.
