APRIL 29, 2019 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: THOM SIMMONS MEDIAMEDIA RELEASERELEASE PAIRINGS ANNOUNCED FOR 2021 CIF SOUTHERN SECTION-FORD BASEBALL PLAYOFFS-CHAMPIONSHIPS LOS ALAMITOS – Pairings for the 2021 CIF Southern Sec on-Ford Baseball Playoff s were an- nounced today. A total of 231 teams qualifi ed for the seven divisional single-elimina on tourna- ments. Compe on opens tomorrow (Divisions 2, 4, 6) and Wednesday (Divisions 1, 3, 5, 7) with wild-card round games where necessary, followed by fi rst-round games on Thursday, June 3 in Divi- sion’s 2, 4, 6 and Division’s 1, 3, 5, 7 on Friday, June 4. The championship fi nals are slated for Friday, June 18 at Blair Field in Long Beach and Saturday, May 19 on Goodwin Field at CS Fullerton. Divisons at those sites are s ll TBA. All games with the excep on of championship games are scheduled to be- gin at 3:15 p.m. unless otherwise noted. All championship games from Goodwin Field will be streamed live by Bally Sports West.     COACHING STAFF ADAM WRIGHT HEAD COACH • 1st Year Alma Mater: UCLA ’01 Adam Wright begins his first season as UCLA’s head men’s water polo coach in 2009. A former standout in the pool at UCLA and on the U.S. Olympic Team, Wright was named the fourth head coach in program history on June 3, 2009. A four-year letterwinner at UCLA (1997-2000), Wright led the Bruins to back-to- back NCAA titles in 1999 and 2000. Following his collegiate career, Wright served as a key member on the U.S. National Team, participating in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics for Team USA. He helped lead the U.S. to a seventh-place finish at the 2004 Olympics (Athens) and to the silver medal at the 2008 Olympics (Beijing). Wright served as an assistant coach with the UCLA men’s and women’s water polo teams during the 2008-09 school year. He helped guide the women’s program to an unprecedented fifth consecutive NCAA championship in May 2009. Following the 2008 men’s water polo season, Wright played an integral role in securing the top men’s recruiting class in the nation. In addition, Wright served as an assistant coach with the varsity boys and girls water polo programs at Wilson High School (Long Beach, Calif.) from 2001-04. He helped coach the boys program to four consecutive CIF Division I championships and Moore League titles. Wright coached the girls team to two Moore League titles and two CIF Division I quarterfinal playoff appearances. As a senior at UCLA in 2000, Wright scored 39 goals before earning honorable mention All-America acclaim and second-team All-MPSF honors.

CIF Southern Section Bylaw 2521.2 states the following: Teams entered in the softball playoffs will not be permitted to take batting practice on the day of a playoff game prior to the commencement of the contest during the contest (See playoff bulletin for definition of batting practice) The CIF Southern Section Softball Post-Season Bulletin defines batting practice as follows: BATTING PRACTICE– Includes bunting or slap hitting. Teams entered in the softball playoffs WILL NOT be permitted to take batting practice on the day of the scheduled contest. Batting practice will be construed as any type of pitching motion with ANY type of ball from in front of the batter (including pitching machines, underhand tossing, overhand throwing or pepper).
