Lisa Lampanelli FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE APRIL 20, 2009 RIVER ROCK CASINO RESORT PRESENTS LISA LAMPANELLI LIVE AT THE RIVER ROCK SHOW THEATRE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30 Richmond, BC – Lisa Lampanelli is Comedy's Lovable Queen of Mean. Heralded as "more than a stand-up … standout" by comedy legend Jim Carrey, Lampanelli is a cross between Don Rickles, Archie Bunker and a vial of estrogen. She even won accolades from The King of All Media, Howard Stern who called her "a true original and a brilliant comedy mind who'll steal the show every time." Lampanelli’s rise to the top of the comedy food chain began in 2002 when she was the only female comedian invited to skewer Chevy Chase on the NY Friars Club Roast on Comedy Central. In 2005, she rocked Comedy Central with her appearance on their roast of Jeff Foxworthy … again, the only female invited to roast the man of honour. Her one-hour special, Take It Like a Man was a hit with the network and the DVD hit #6 on the comedy charts. She then appeared on Comedy Central’s roasts of Pamela Anderson and William Shatner … both of which received national attention. In 2007, her second Comedy Central special, Dirty Girl garnered huge ratings and was released on Warner Bros. Records reaching #34 on the charts. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award for ”Best Comedy Album of the Year.” Her feature film appearances include The Aristocrats, Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector and Delta Farce. Most recently, she played a more maternal version of herself in the Owen Wilson vehicle, Drillbit Taylor. She just finished production on her HBO comedy special, Long Live the Queen which is scheduled to air next month. In addition her first book, Chocolate, Please: My Adventures in Food, Fat and Freaks will hit bookstore shelves in the fall. Known for saying things that most people are afraid to think, Lampanelli’s gut-busting performances are wildly popular at theatres across North America. • Lisa Donovan Has Been Hailed by Critics As an All- Around Entertainer Who Can Do It All
Lisa Donovan has been hailed by critics as an all- around entertainer who can do it all. As an actress, she won an award from the Southern California Motion Picture Council as "Outstanding Newcomer of the Year." As a singer, Lisa consistently receives rhapsodic reviews from the toughest critics in the business. As a comedienne, she's been praised for performing comedy with Lucille-Ball-like precision timing. And as a dancer, she received high critical praise from no less a publication than The New York Times. Lisa just finished a two-year run as Mother Superior in the delightful, world-famous musical comedy NUNSENSE at the now-named Westgate Hotel, formerly the Las Vegas Hilton, the hotel Elvis Presley called home. Lisa proved her enormous singing range on the long-running television show FACE THE MUSIC, which was broadcast first in national syndication and later on cable networks for more than a decade. On that show Lisa performed everything from soft rock to light opera and set some Guiness-type world records. In all, she sang parts of more than eleven thousand musical numbers. On the New York stage, Lisa starred in a revival of BABES IN ARMS, directed by the legendary Ginger Rogers, who hand-picked Lisa for the role. That's the play in which Lisa received all that praise from The New York Times, which actually likened her to a young Ginger Rogers. Lisa has performed non-musically as well. On the stage in Los Angeles, she played all three female roles in Sean Waldron's chilling drama about atomic radiation poisoning.

In a departure from the insult comedy she’s long been known for, LISA has created a heartfelt, funny theatrical evening focusing on issues of weight, body image, and “losin’ it!.” Obsessed with food for as long as she can remember, LISA has lost and gained more than 372 pounds over the course of her life. Performed in the spirit of The Vagina Monologues and Love, Loss, & What I Wore, LISA and friends enchant theatergoers with touching anecdotes about their own weight struggles, spiked with Lisa’s cutting-edge humor. LOSIN’ IT! is a departure from the cutting comedy Lisa has long been known for. Of the change of direction, she said: “I decided stand-up comedy really wasn’t for me anymore. It wasn’t making my heart happy. So, I created LOSIN’ IT!, a show using comedy to talk about weight and body issues, which are things I’ve struggled with for years.

There's nothing funny about it. But survival, and what it takes to survive, there can be humor in that.” -Rob Reiner, Director “I am…privy to many of the films that are released on a yearly basis about the Holocaust. I cannot think of one project that has taken the approach of THE LAST LAUGH. THE LAST LAUGH dispels the notion that there is nothing new to say or to reveal on the subject because this aspect of survival is one that very few have explored in print and no one that I know of has examined in a feature documentary.” -Richard Tank, Executive Director at the Simon Wiesenthal Center SHORT SYNOPSIS THE LAST LAUGH is a feature documentary about what is taboo for humor, seen through the lens of the Holocaust and other seemingly off-limits topics, in a society that prizes free speech.
