Before taking up the meeting agenda, the President requested the house to pay homage to the members of MPCA who left for their heavenly abode during the last year, as listed under – i. Late Shri Noshirwan Godrej (Played for the state) ii. Late Shri K.K.Shah, iii. Late Shri Ravi Borgaonkar, iv. Late Shri Mahendra Mahajan and v. Late Shri Mahendra Kumar Badjatya Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia extended a warm welcome to the members and spoke about the attainments of MPCA during the last year. The President expressed his sincere thanks to Shri Dilip Chudgar, immediate past CEO of MPCA, for his yeomen services towards the administration of MPCA in an effective and efficient manner during his tenure as a CEO. He also informed the house about the newly appointed CEO, Shri Rohit D. Pandit. The President further appreciated the performance and achievements of MPCA junior teams and congratulated the players and the team officials. He expressed that our Senior team (Ranji team) was unfortunate not to reach the semi-finals, as most of the matches in which our team was well placed were curtailed / abandoned due to rains. Naman Ojha, Mohnish Mishra and Harpreet Singh were our star achievers for the session 2009-10. Naman is the first player from the state to represent India in a T-20 9 International match. Naman, Mohnish and Harpreet played in IPL-III. Mohnish also represented Central Zone in the Duleep & Deodhar Trophy Tournaments. The President congratulated the organizing committee and the Gwalior Divisional Cricket Association for the successful conduct of the One Day International match between India and South Africa, played at Gwalior on 24-2-2010. He praised the efforts and contribution on part of the organizing committee members for their tireless work citing that the match was allotted at a very short notice. Creating a place in history of ODI, this match provided amazing entertainment to the spectators when Sachin Tendulkar became the first cricketer to score a double hundred in ODI. Thus, MPCA is goldenly associated with two landmarks in Sachin’s playing career – First when he scored his ten thousandth ODI run at Indore (2001), the second being his double century in ODI played at Gwalior (2010). Speaking about the MPCA cricket stadium in Indore, he proudly informed the house about the praises that are showered on MPCA management for constructing one of the best cricket stadiums in India and that too with the least costs involved. The construction of the administrative building is on and would be completed in the next year. The President recommended to the house about the proposal of the Managing Committee, that in light of the contribution from the great Holkar cricketers and the patronage of the family, the MPCA Cricket Stadium should be christened as ‘HOLKAR STADIUM’. The President also referred to the Managing Committee's proposal to form a committee under the Chairmanship of Prof. Chaturvedi to consider the matter of naming the pavilion, dressing rooms, porticos, various gates etc., in the honour of our cricketers and administrators who have contributed towards the development of MPCA. The house unanimously approved the two proposals. The President mentioned about his vision for the development of cricket in MP, which, in a nutshell, revolves around strong talent scouting systems, contemporary coaching, a professional work environment and continuous infrastructure development. He appreciated the efforts on part of the management for the journey to achieve the desired structure which is essential to execute the vision towards fulfillment of organizational goals. 10 The President mentioned about the highlights of the budget, and one of the salient feature, which is in line with our vision and a part of our players development process, is the tour of our team to Australia to compete in practice matches, engage in contemporary training etc. It is imperative for us to provide such kind of exposure to our players ahead of the Indian domestic cricket season. The members appreciated the concept and extended best wishes to the team. In respect of creating infrastructure at the divisional level, he informed the house that MPCA has purchased land for cricket grounds at Sagar & Jabalpur and efforts are being made to procure land at Gwalior & Ujjain. In this regard, he has also pursued with the State Government for allocation of land in Indore. The Committee has proposed to allocate, to begin with, a fund of Rs.10 crores for this purpose during this financial year. The President further referred to the ultra-modern fitness equipment that we have purchased for our Gymnasium, which are worth Rs. 75 Lacs (approx.). With this addition, ours could be one of the best available gymnasiums in India. In the near future, an additional gymnasium will be set up for our Life Members. Concluding his Presidential address, he referred to an article, published in one of the leading dailies- The Hindu, that praised the efforts of MPCA for its human resource development process Thereafter, Shri S.C. Malhotra, speaking on behalf of the Holkar family, reminisced the early days of the association and said that after a long journey the association has now reached a respected stage due to the efforts from all members of the association. He appreciated the infrastructure development work undertaken by MPCA, congratulated and expressed his confidence in the current management team, which in his opinion should be allowed to continue with its stellar work and contribution. He also expressed thanks on behalf of the Holkar family for the love and affection bestowed upon the Holkars by naming the stadium in memory of Holkar cricketers and the family. Thereafter the agenda was taken up for discussions. 1. To confirm the Minutes of the Last Annual General Body Meeting held on 17th August 2009. The minutes of the meeting were confirmed, as proposed by Shri Milind Kanmadikar and seconded by Shri Vijay Nayudu. 11 2. Adoption of annual report of 2009-2010 Praising the compilation of information, the house adopted the annual report, as proposed by Shri Kamal Shrivastava and seconded by Shri S. Gulrez Ali. 3. Consideration and approval of audited statement of accounts for the year 2009-2010 Shri Kamal Shrivastava raised the issue about Indore being sidelined and Gwalior receiving extra attention. Also the issue about the rotation of ODI matches between Indore and Gwalior was raised. On this, the Chairman specified that the rotation of matches is as per the tradition and is in place for last many years. The President condemned this negative line of thought and assured the house that this is MPCA and not a Divisional Association. Each Division must be cared for and he has never thought of a preferential attitude towards or against any of the Divisional Cricket Associations. MPCA has created one of the best cricket stadiums in India in a sum of forty crores, and that is in Indore. On the other hand, the stadium at Gwalior is a thirty year old depreciated asset which needs regular investment for its maintenance. The luxurious gymnasium is in Indore. The cricket academy is established in Indore. Even if one goes to the extent of equating the strength of membership from these two cities, Gwalior has only two life members while Indore has almost one hundred and ninety. As a matter of fact, if there has been any kind of favouritism, it is in favour of Indore and that he is proud to be associated with this line of action as Indore is the seed of cricketing history in Madhya Pradesh. He has always taken efforts to ensure the emergence of Indore as one of the best cricketing centres, harkening back to its old glory. The populous auditorium echoed his views and expressed appreciation over his fair management. 12 Next, the General body, being satisfied with the President’s elucidation on certain other queries raised by the members, unanimously approved the audited statement of accounts for the year 2009-2010, as proposed by Shri Subhash Bais and seconded by Ms.
