You | Your Team | The Game | The Industry | 07 THE LMA PRESIDENT’S DINNER 2017

At the LMA President’s Dinner in December, six exceptional managers were inducted into the LMA 1,000 Club and Hall of Fame. England manager and LMA president and Sir presented the trophies, hand-crafted by Thomas Lyte, to LMA members , , and John Toshack MBE. Rafa Benitez and Sven-Göran Eriksson were inducted in absentia.

Speaking at the event at London’s Dorchester Hotel, Southgate said, “The significance of reaching 1,000 games in football management at elite level cannot be understated. They are an example to all young managers, demonstrating what can be achieved in the game through hard work and dedication.”

Fellow LMA 1,000 Club and LMA Hall of Fame member Sir Alex said, “It takes decades of sacrifice, resilience and talent to build such marvelous careers in the game and each of these managers has experienced every emotion and every challenge that comes with the job, and achieved a great deal.”

Leadership & Management HALL OF FAME 1,000 CLUB

The philosophy behind the Hall of Fame is unequivocal. History, heritage and legacy are crucial elements that make up the very fabric of the League Managers Association. Entry to the Hall of Fame is not limited to those who are acknowledged as ‘Titans’ in professional football, rather managers are inducted in recognition of their contribution to the game, their achievements and their lasting legacy. The extraordinary achievement of taking charge of 1,000 competitive matches at elite level at home, overseas, or International games, brings automatic membership of the LMA Hall of Fame. In the modern era only 24 managers have previously attained this truly remarkable feat. We are incredibly proud to add:

CARLO ANCELOTTI THREE-TIME UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WINNER TOP-TIER TITLES IN ITALY, ENGLAND, FRANCE AND GERMANY

The second event of the LMA Leadership Series took place on 14 March at the Royal Society of Medicine, London, centred around the theme of Health & Wellbeing.

Neuroscientist Amy Brann kicked off proceedings with a cutting-edge insight into how we can optimise performance, and provided some of the science behind leadership training and team health and wellbeing.

Professor of Human Brain Research and the scientist behind sleepdeep® Professor Vin Walsh followed, looking at the benefits of sleep and how to increase productivity in the workplace.

TV presenter, event host and presentation coach Mark Clemmit then led a Q&A with LMA member Hope Powell CBE, winning Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, and LMA director of wellbeing Dr Dorian Dugmore. The panel shared their experiences and views and examined the impact of health and wellbeing on success in an elite environment.

Following feedback from members and partners, it was decided that instead of holding an annual conference, the LMA would deliver the same content via a series of smaller, topic- focused events, known as the LMA Leadership Series.

Mark Clemmit hosts a panel featuring Dr Dorian These would retain all the strengths of the conference, Dugmore, Hope Powell and Paul McGinley offering high-level speakers, brilliant insight and discussion, and great networking opportunities.
