SEMINAR GUIDE welcome to COLLEGIATE PREP

2019 Collegians,

We are so excited to welcome you to Collegiate Prep 2019! This year's Collegiate Preparation Seminar is filled with fun activities, reflective experiences, and most importantly, celebrating YOU!

You've worked so hard the last four years and now the time is here! You've graduated high school, selected your college, and now it's time to celebrate your successes with your BHGH family. We've got an awesome lineup of activities and events prepared for you. This week, you'll hear from amazing speakers, network with professionals in various fields, get to know peers across affiliates, and of course—have fun!

You've traveled from all over the country to be here this week! We have Collegians from U.S. BHGH af- filiate: You’ve come from Arizona, Baltimore, Northeast Ohio, Detroit, New Orleans, San Francisco, New York, Illinois, Colorado, Pittsburgh, and right here in St. Louis.

This year, the theme “Breaking Boundaries, Building Legacies” speaks to every person who will be experienc- ing Collegiate Prep this summer. The quote, “legacy is not leaving something for people but leaving some- thing in people”, will be a resounding theme throughout the week. This week will equip you with the skills to move into the next phase of your life with the confidence to take on every obstacle that presents itself. We believe in each and every one of you and can’t wait to see how much you all grow throughout the week.

We each have the power to create, shape, and build the legacy that we want. We can do this by pushing the boundaries that the world has set for us and by living out our purpose and passions day in and day out. We hope that throughout the week, you’ll take some time to reflect on how you can use your gifts, talents, and ideas to create your legacy and make your impact in the world. We are so excited for the journey ahead of you, and we look forwarding to celebrating with you all week!

Several weeks from now you will be entering into a new chapter in the journey of your life. The door has now closed on your high school chapter as the many other benchmarks of your life that came before. As you move forward, reflect upon the chapter of the past few years and how this chapter ends.

Below are some questions to consider.

• How have the people in your life (family, friends, Boys Hope Girls Hope, your high school and community) contributed to the person you have become?

• What have you done to contribute to your family, friends, Boys Hope Girls Hope, high school and community over the past years?

• What is unique about me that will be remembered in a positive light?

• What are my morals, values, and beliefs? Would I want others to follow in my footsteps?

• How have you used your talents to benefit others?

• What are some of the most important lessons you have learned so far?

• Have I learned from past mistakes and changed my life accordingly?

• When you are away at college, what do you hope people think about you and remember most about you?

• Is it time to revise certain parts of my life to create the legacy I hope to leave?

• What do you hope to develop within yourself to build upon in the creation of your legacy?
