Suite 201 Ottawa, ON K1J 8H9 Press Release Date: August 25, 2021 Ottawa, Ontario: Hockey Eastern Ontario strongly encourages players, coaches, team officials and on-ice officials eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated before returning to the ice for the 2021-22 season. As we prepare for the return of traditional hockey, it is more important than ever that we take all the necessary steps available to us to protect ourselves, our families, our teammates and our communities. We can do this by getting vaccinated and observing public health measures such as masking and hand sanitizing where we are asked to do so. In this way, we can safely enjoy hockey as we used to know it — five-on-five hockey games with body contact/checking where permitted, and intra- / inter-Branch travel for tournaments after October 1, 2021. Vaccination plays such a strong role in protecting all of us from the serious consequences of COVID-19, particularly variants of concern such as the Delta variant. HEO is working with Hockey Canada and other member Branches in Ontario to look at the question of requiring vaccination for participation in our hockey programs. Some of our member organizations within HEO have recently taken the decision to require vaccination in order to participate (the Central Canada Hockey League and the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League), and we applaud their commitment to participant and community safety. We will keep you updated on our work in this area. Please contact your Local Public Health Unit or the Province of Ontario for information on where to get vaccinated (see websites below). ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 ABOUT THE ONTARIO HOCKEY FEDERATION The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) is the largest member of Hockey Canada operating along side Hock- ey Eastern Ontario (HEO) and Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) as governing bodies for amateur hock- ey in Ontario. Recognized as the Provincial Sport Organization for the sport of Hockey, the OHF operates within a structure that is comprised of seven member partners: the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (ALLIANCE), Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), Northern Ontario Hockey As- sociation (NOHA), Ontario Hockey Association (OHA), Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA), and Ontario Women’s Hockey As- sociation (OWHA). HOCKEY EASTERN ONTARIO One Team, One Mission, One Goal HEO Launches Transgender Inclusiveness Training for Team Officials Ottawa, ON – Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) along with the Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) and the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) are pleased to announce the launch of a new training module for team officials, to support trans-inclusive hockey in Ontario, Understanding Discrimination based on Gender Identity and Gender Expression Training. There are two modules which will educate team officials on this important topic. For team officials already assigned to a team, completion of these modules will be required by October 1, 2017. For team officials named within a month of or after October 1, they will have 30 days to complete both modules. “Hockey Eastern Ontario believes that this training is crucial in educating our Team Officials on the subject of Trans-inclusive sport and is proud to be working with Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO) and the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) on this endeavor,” said Ron McRostie, HEO President. This process started in 2013, when a complaint to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario was filed against Hockey Canada alleging discrimination in services based on gender identity. The e-modules will be available to team officials at the following link. https://ehockey.hockeycanada.ca/ehockey/ClinicDetail.aspx?cid=111725 Coaches will receive 3 maintenance points for the certification of this course. HEO is one of 13 Branches under Hockey Canada and is the governing body of Amateur Hockey within its defined boundaries. It shall be composed of amateur hockey teams, of amateur hockey leagues, and of amateur hockey associations which are within the geographical jurisdiction of the association and which are willing to comply with the By-Laws, with the Regulations and with the rules of HEO.

2013 Alberta Hockey Summit Report
2013 ALBERTA HOCKEY SUMMIT REPORT August 22 – 24, 2013 Banff Centre 100 COLLEGE BLVD EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The 2013 Alberta Hockey Summit posed itself to be an event unlike any other held before it in the province of Alberta. The plan was set months in advance: three days of Alberta Hockey’s members, leaders and stakeholders in the Canadian Rockies meeting to discuss and dissect the issues facing the sport of hockey within the province. With topics including Leadership, Long Term Player Development and The Future of the Game set in advance, more than 200 people descended upon Banff, Alberta for the Summit. Speakers included Ken Dryden (former NHL Goaltender and Member of Parliament), Ryan Walter (Abbottsford Heat President), Steve Norris (Winsport Canada), and George Kingston (International Hockey Coach), the Summit’s subjects became very heated debates. The Summit purpose was threefold. First, to engage all stakeholders in the game in Alberta. Second, to have expert presentations around key areas and ensure delegates understand the opportunities and issues facing the game. Lastly, to have open dialogue and discussion as to where we in Alberta want the game to go. Emerging from Summit dialogue were eight themes that are to be addressed by future leadership groups made up of key stakeholders. These themes are: to create a clear alignment and vision for the game in Alberta, to create a shared leadership across sports, to train our future leaders, to strengthen business relationships, to develop a model for the ideal LMHA, to reduce system bias, to open the doors for ‘non-traditional’ participants, and lastly, to focus on the player.
