President’s Message On Thursday, March 7, at Receptions in Erlanger, 300 NDA alumnae, friends, and supporters celebrated the annual Women Making a Difference luncheon. Cassidy Ryan placed second at the Kentucky Junior Science and Humanities Symposium in Louisville on March 15 and 16. Szofia Komaromy-Hiller, Monica McFadden, and Cassidy were among the 21 students invited to present their original research at the symposium. Cassidy will next present her work at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium May 1-4. Besides the expenses-paid trip, Cassidy 4 was offered a trustee’s scholarship to the University of Louisville and a 5 $1500 scholarship to the college of her choice.

Most recently, Notre Dame science research students competed at the Three NDA Seniors state level in the Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair in Richmond, Kentucky. Monica McFadden placed third overall 2012-13 Winter and earned one of the spots to the International Science and Engineering Fair. Since she had already qualified through the regional fair, Emily Walter was awarded the regional slot and will also compete at the international event in Phoenix in May.
