CAREER 1-4 6.52 10 90 0 48.1 57 35 35 18 26 DANIEL McCUTCHEN: The 27-year-old righthander is making his fourth start/fifth appearance of the season with Pittsburgh tonight...He was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. LAST START: McCutchen gave up just two runs in 7.0 innings, but suffered a 2-0 loss vs. Durham Monday night. WITH INDY: Daniel went 4-5 with a 3.86 ERA in 10 Triple-A starts this season...He pitched 7.0 innings in each of his last three assignments and at least 6.0 innings in seven of his 10 starts overall...He also posted a 2.73 ERA (26.1ip/8er) in his last four outings (all coming during the month of June). WITH PITTSBURGH: McCutchen was tabbed as the team’s fifth starter on 3/23 and was a member of a Major League Opening Day roster for the first time in his career...He suffered a 15-6 loss in his first start with the Bucs and was optioned to Triple-A on 4/12, but returned to the big league club without making an appearance with Indy...After receiving a no-decision in his second start on 4/17, he was the starting pitcher in Pittsburgh’s 20-0 loss to the Brewers on 4/22...Daniel then tossed a scoreless inning of relief with the Bucs on 4/24 at Houston before being optioned to Triple-A the following day. SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST: McCutchen made six starts for the Pirates in 2009 and picked up his first Major League victory in his final start on 10/2 at Cincinnati - the exact location he made his big league debut on 8/31. THIS & THAT: Daniel was acquired from the New York Yankees along with pitchers Ross Ohlendorf and Jeff Karstens and outfielder Jose Tabata in exhcange for outfielder Xavier Nady and pitcher Damaso Marte on 7/26/08...He pitched collegiately at Oklahoma - the same school where manager John Russell played...Was selected to play for Team USA in the 2009 World Cup, but did not participate due to he promotion to the Major Leagues.
