North Thurston Public Schools PHYSICAL FITNESS LEVEL STANDARDS Fitness scores are not used in grading a student, but an indication of his/her fitness level. It should be the goal of the student to show progress until meeting standard. The goal for a student meeting standard should be to continue progressing or maintain their fitness level. Scores that are blank or marked NA means the score for that assessment was not available for reasons including: student was absent from physical education class, student was injured or had a health excuse, or student was new to our school after the assessment was administered. (Progressive Aerobic Cardiorespiratory Endurance Run) is a multistage fitness test, also known as the 20 meter shuttle run test or beat the beep. This test is a common test of aerobic fitness or cardiorespiratory endurance. The P.A.C.E.R. involves continuous running between two lines 20 meters apart in time to recorded beeps. The time between recorded beeps decreases each level. The student lies flat with knees flexed. Arms are crossed with hands placed on opposite shoulders and elbows held close to chest. The student raises the trunk, curling up to touch elbows to thighs. Partners hold feet and count. The Student removes shoes and sits on floor with knees fully extended, feet shoulder-width apart and soles of the feet held flat against the end of the box. With hands on top of each other, palms down, and legs held flat, the student reaches along the measuring line as far as possible. After three practice reaches, the fourth reach is held while the distance is recorded. .
