All members are appointed by the governor and serve staggered four year terms. The board is responsible for promulgating rules, setting forth guidelines for agency operations, and governing the professional practices of the licensees. The entity is self-supporting through fees. Executive Branch 66 67 Governor Mary Fallin Constitution, Article 6 § 1 Governor Mary Fallin was elected November 2, 2010, during a historic election in which she became the first-ever female governor of Oklahoma. She was inaugurated on the steps of the Oklahoma Capitol as the state’s twenty-seventh governor on January 10, 2011. She won reelection in November 2014. After working in the private sector as a manager for a national hotel chain, Fallin made her first foray into public service in 1990 when she was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives. This began her long and distinguished career of public service dedicated to conservative, common sense solutions to the challenges facing Oklahoma families and small businesses. During her time in the House, Fallin earned a reputation as a consensus builder who was willing to reach across the aisle. Serving in the Republican minority, she managed to pass more than a dozen bills that were signed into law by the state’s Democratic governor, including Oklahoma’s first “anti-stalker law,” and measures aimed at improving the business climate in Oklahoma. She also worked to lower the health care costs of small businesses in Okla- homa and for her work in this area was honored as a Legislator of the Year by the American Legislative Exchange Council. In 1994 Fallin would first make history by becoming the first woman and first Republican to be elected lieutenant governor of Oklahoma, an office she would hold for twelve years. In this capacity, Fallin focused her attention on issues affecting job creation and economic development. -

Lincoln Blvd, Room 212 Oklahoma City, OK 73105 Dear Governor Fallin: Liberals and champions of big government spending are pleading today with the state to keep, rather than sell, the Sooner Sub rail line. As you may be aware, on March 4th I vetoed a Resolution passed by the Tulsa City Council encouraging the state not to sell the Sooner Sub rail line. I believe that the state will be best served by a private owner continuing to operate the rail line. It is better in the private sector where true value and economic growth can occur, freight can continue to be transported to free markets, and if possible there may even be a chance for passenger rail between Tulsa and Oklahoma City from private rail operators. I applaud your efforts to move in this direction by evaluating a sale of the Sooner Sub rail line. You are working to make our state government smaller and turn over functions better left to the private sector economy. Oklahoma does not belong in the rail business. If private companies are willing to spend their own money to operate a railroad then we should encourage and allow them to do so. Passenger rail between Tulsa and Oklahoma City would be a very good thing for our area and all of the state. I recently supported an amended version of the resolution I vetoed, one that supports passenger rail development between Tulsa and Oklahoma City, but it does not ask the state to keep the Sooner Sub rail line. -

State Officials Participate in ESGR Bosslift to Camp Shelby, MS Oscar Jackson, OPM Administrator & Cabinet Secretary for Human Resources and Administration At the invitation of the Oklahoma Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), on April 26 and 27, thirty public and private sector employer representatives with employees who are National Guard service members deploying with the 45th Infantry Combat Team later this year, participated in a Bosslift to Camp Shelby, Mississippi for a short visit with employee service members as they prepared for deployment to Afghanistan. The Mission of the Oklahoma Academy is to identify issues facing Oklahoma, provide well-researched, objective information, foster nonpartisan collaboration, develop responsible recommendations, and encourage community and legislative action. The Vision of the Oklahoma Academy is to empower Oklahomans to improve their quality of life through effective public policy development and implementation. The Academy Process identifies areas of need and problems facing Oklahoma, conducts research on identified critical issues, and develops long range goals, consensus recommendations, and agendas for action.
