That investment is most salient in two films: Batman, released in 1989 during the merger negotiations between Time Inc. and Warner, and JFK, the signature film of the new organization.I willargue that Batman and JFK are corporate expressions: the former an instrumental allegory contrived to accomplish corporate objectives, the latter a scenario that effectively expands the range of what counts as a corporate objective. Batman is an allegory addressed to savvy corporate insiders, some of whom are meant to get the message, while others err. JFK aspired to turn everyone into an insider. It inducts its viewers into a new American mythos wired for an age in which successful corporate financial performance presupposes

UNIVERSITY CORRIDOR - LATE NIGHT A YOUNG PROFESSOR hurries down the empty hall — hotly murmuring to himself, intensely concerned ... A handsome man, about 30, but dressed strangely — are we in some other country? Sometime in the past? Or in the future? YOUNG PROFESSOR It's switched off ... It can't be ... But the readings, what else — The Young Professor reaches a massive steel door, like the hatch of a walk-in safe. Slides an ID card, that's emblazoned with a familiar-looking "S" shield: the door hinges open. The Young Professor pauses — he hadn't noted, till now, the depths of his fear. Then, enters: INT. UNIVERSITY LAB - LATE NIGHT Dark. The Professor tries the lights. Power is off. Cursing, he's got just enough time, as the safe door r swings closed again, to find an emergency flashlight. He flicks it on: plays the beam over all the bizarre equipment, the ultra-advanced science paraphernalia. Now he hears a CREAK. He spins. His voice quavers. YOUNG PROFESSOR I.A.C. ..? Aside from regular cinematography, he has also worked in specialised areas such as models and miniatures, high speed and macro, including extended effects work for Terrence Malick's Imax film 'Voyage Of Time'. His drama work includes shooting a BBC short film for Jonathan Glazer, a low budget independent feature and a horror pilot for Sky. Tom has also served as DoP on a number of commercials and promos - most recently Ballantines, Cheerios, and AIB for Si and Ad / Academy.
