The complement of the Boards would be the elected unitary councillors of the community area,a cabinet member of the unitary council, elected representatives from the Town/Parish Councils in the community area and the Chairman of the Community Area Partnership. A working party for the Warminster area has been set up to progress the plans with a view to establishing a "proxy board" by Autumn of 2008. It is proposed to set up a Parish Liaison Group to work with the Warminster working party and the PC was invited to join. Richard Munro. The aim is to identify families who are in need of help with parenting at an early stage and provide help and guidance in an effort to avoid long term problems.She would value the opportunity to speak to relevant groups in the village and would appreciate the PC's assistance in publicising the scheme to try and reach those in need of help. 2.Election of Chairman for 2008/2009. Mrs Wyeth was the only nominee.She was unanimously elected as Chairman for the ensuing year and signed the Certificate of Acceptance for the post. 3.Election of Vice Chairman for 2008/2009 Mrs Johnstone was unanimously elected as Vice Chairman for the ensuing year. 4.Declarations of Acceptance of Office as Councillors for 2008/2009.     Kellys Directory Extract 1867 Codford Codford St. Mary – is a parish, on the banks of the Wiley, and on the road from Salisbury to Warminster, in the Southern division of the country, hundred of Heytesbury, Warminster Union and county court district, diocese and archdeaconry of Salisbury and rural deanery of Wylye, distant 7 miles south-east from Warminster, 14 north-west from Salisbury and 3 from Heytesbury, adjoining Stockton, Sherrington and Codford St Peter, in the latter of which there is a station on the Great Western Railway. The Church of St Mary was restored in 1844, and a south aisle added, which is connected with the nave by an arcade supported by three clustered piers; the chancel arch was for centuries so covered with plaster that its beauty was unheeded; the ornament constituting the enrichment of the architecture is very elaborate: in an adjoining recess, on the south side, serving as a sacristy, at the end of the new aisle, is the Mompesson monument; the panels of the pulpit are richly carved in oak, and are in good preservation; the communion table is made from the old pulpit of the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Oxford; the square tower, which contains three bells, is ancient. The register dates from 1653. The living is a rectory, yearly value £350, with residence, in the patronage of St. John’s College, Oxford, and held by the Rev. John William Hammond, B.D., of that college. There is a place to worship for Independents. On the summit of Codford Hill, in this parish, is Oldbury Camp, an earthwork forming a complete circle, and surrounded by a vallum and fosse constructed with great regularity.

The Church of St Mary is a building of stone, consisting of chancel with aisle, nave, south aisle, south porch and ancient western tower, containing 3 bells: the chancel is Transitional and the tower of the 16th century: the chancel arch is late Norman, elaborately carved: in the chancel aisle, is a monument to the Mompesson family; the communion table was made from the old pulpit of the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Oxford; the handsome altar cloth was worked by Mrs Ashley Dodd, late of Stockton House; the church was restored in 1879 at a cost of £1,200 and has 300 sittings. The register dates from the year 1653. The living is a rectory, net income £230, including residence and 44 acres of glebe, in the gift of St. John’s College, Oxford, and held since 1892 by the Rev. Edward Albert Henry Aston M.A., of that college. Here is a Congregational chapel, with Sunday school.

    GREENWAYS SCHOOL Ashton Gifford House – previous site of Greenways School (Photo by Donovapa) Greenways School, also known as Greenways Preparatory School, was an English prep school, founded at Bognor Regis, Sussex, before the Second World War. In 1940 it moved to Ashton Gifford House, Codford, Wiltshire, where it remained until it was closed in 1969. The school was a prep school for boys, preparing them for the Common Entrance Examination. Boys were divided into two "houses", called Greens and Blues. In 1928, the school was already established at Aldwick, Sussex, just to the west of Bognor Regis, under Dugald S. Hancock (1897–1963). A modern linguist born in the Transvaal, Hancock had been educated at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and was a fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society. In the 1930s, the school was still operated in Sussex by Dugald and Vivien Hancock, both schoolteachers, but in 1940 it was evacuated to Wiltshire, because of the danger of German bombing on the south coast. With her husband away from home on Second World War military service, Vivien Hancock took on the role of school principal for the duration of the War, and, as matters turned out, beyond. The daughter of an Oxfordshire clergyman, she became a friend of the poet Siegfried Sassoon, who lived near Codford, at Heytesbury, and was the father of a boy at the school, George Sassoon. For much of the War the artist Keith Vaughan was stationed at Codford. He painted "The Wall at Ashton Gifford" (1942) "Tree felling at Ashton Gifford" (1942–43), and "The Garden at Ashton Gifford" (1944).
