June 1-6: Spring Carnival at South Park Mall, 4500 16 th St., Moline, . The Carnival will kick off on Friday, May 29 in the Southeast corner of the parking lot. Join us for cotton candy, corn dogs and exciting games and attractions. Unlimited rides from 5:00-11:00 PM for $25 for opening night.

June 6: 10:30am-11:00am “Over The Ledge: Mrs. Honey’s Hat” Monday Mrs. Honey loses the feathers in her hat, on Tuesday, she loss the cherries. Each day she loses something from her hat, but each time it is replaced with something that doesn’t belong. What will her hat look like at the end of the week? Find out at the Bettendorf Family Museum on Learning Campus Drive. Kids who receive NCI services and their staff will be admitted free.

June 6: 1:00pm-3:00pm “Funny Hats” at the Bettendorf Family Museum on Learning Campus Drive. Create your own funny hat. Play a memory game to see if you can remember the objects on Mrs. Honey’s hat. Admission is free to those who receive NCI services and their staff.

June 8-July 13 : 6:00pm-7:30pm (Monday Nights) Track and Field Club at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport. Davenport Parks and Recreation in conjunction with the Cornbelt Running Club is offering a free Junior Track and Field Club for kids ages 6-14. This is a non- competitive program to introduce children to the sport of track and field. Kids will be divided according to their age and perform activities such as hurdles, long jump, relays, sprinting and running. Snacks are provided each week and medals are awarded at the end of the program.

June 10, 17, 24 and July 1, 8, 15: 6:00pm-8:30pm Special Olympics Unified Bowling at Millertime Bowl on Kimberly Road in Davenport. This is a free activity. Unified bowling league is open to youth and adult bowlers with and without disabilities. It’s a chance to improve your skills, make new friends, and have a great time. Each team will consist of two persons with disabilities and 2 persons without disabilities. Teams will bowl 2 games each Wednesday night. There are limited spots available so sign up will be on a first come, first serve basis. If you are interested in Unified Bowling, and do join, keep your scores each week and turn them into Marie Randol, NCI Special Olympic Coach, if you would like to do Special Olympic Bowling in the Fall. You can register for Unified Bowling at the Rivers Edge, 700 W. River Drive in Davenport (next to Modern Woodmen Ball Park). You must be at least 12 years old to enter Unified Bowling.

June 5-7: Free Fishing weekend for residents. Sport Fishing License requirements have been waived for residents of Iowa by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for this weekend.

June 6: 9:00am-12:00pm Fishing Clinic held at West Lake Park and open to Scott County residents grades K-6. Children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult, moms and dads are encouraged to attend. All poles and tackle are provided. Registration begins at 8:00am. This program is exclusively sponsored by the Quad City In-Fisherman and is part of the FISH IOWA Angler education program.

June 9: 6:30pm “Fairy House Workshop” at Vander Veer Park. The cost for this program is $8.00 and it is open to those 7 years old and up. What’s the best way to attract fairies to your garden? Build them a home, of course! Anyone can create a unique and charming fairy house that the wee folk would be proud to call home. Learn how at the fairy house workshop. All construction materials will be provided. Registration deadline is 5pm on June 4 th .

June 11: 9:30am-11:30am “Adventures With Grandma” at Vander Veer Enabling Garden. Join Grandma Susie, Gumbo, and her grandkids Kane and Keaton as they venture through Davenport enjoying what the parks have to offer. Please take a water bottle with you. This is a free activity.

June 13: 10:00am-1:00pm Open Gym at the Roosevelt Community Center, 1220 Minnie Avenue, Davenport, Iowa. Go and join in the fun and free play, structured games and more. There is no charge to participate. This program is for ages 4-16. (7 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

June 13, 14: Pioneer Days and Buckskinners Rendezvous at the Colonel Davenport House, Hillman Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois. The third annual Pioneer Days at the Colonel Davenport House on Arsenal Island expands to two days this year on June 13-14.

There is an overnight encampment of fur trader re-enactors, called a Buckskinners' Rendezvous, with pioneer portrayers demonstrating hatchet and knife throwing, and craft demonstrators such as wood-working, chair caning, spinning, quilting, basket making, rope making, and campfire cooking.

There are also historical re-enactors and activities/demonstrations from the Belgian Lace- makers, Museum, Moline Preservation Society, Museum, River Share Library, and more.

Larry Lockwood will do a demonstration at 1 p.m. on Saturday on drum and a recitation on the Indian influence of the pioneer era. Lockwood is a member of the Northern Cheyenne tribe and also belongs to the Native American Coalition of the . Vendors available will be Dickey’s BBQ with sandwiches, fries, and drinks; and Stan’s Ice Cream.

Pioneer Days hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 and 12-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 14. Tours of the Colonel Davenport House included. Admission is $10.00 adults for 13 years and over; free 12 and under. For more information, visit their website at www.davenporthouse.org .

Plan to spend the day on Arsenal Island on the Mississippi Riverbank, just like George Davenport's family did when they lived there.

A current U.S. picture ID for persons 16 years or older is needed in order to be permitted on Arsenal Island because it is a working military facility. You can access Arsenal Island using the Moline, Illinois, gate.

June 13, 20: 1:00pm-4:00pm Deere-Wiman House Underground Tunnel Tour, 1105-8th St., Moline, Illinois. Did you know there is a tunnel that connects the historic Deere-Wiman House home to the Deere-Wiman Carriage House? Built c1916, the tunnel was handy for staff to move between buildings, especially during the winter months. Today, the tunnel is still used by the Deere-Wiman staff. Come experience this unique opportunity to see the Deere-Wiman Tunnel and learn about its’ history. You must be able to handle stairs and a ramp to view the tunnel. Only the tunnel tour will be available on Saturday the 13th and 20th. Guided tours of the Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House may be scheduled on weekdays or on Sundays, July 12-August 30. June 14: 10:00am-4:00pm Travel The Cody Trail at Walnut Grove Pioneer Village, 18817-290 th St., Long Grove, Iowa. A 2nd Sunday event at Pioneer Village featuring old world demonstrators, stories about Buffalo Bill Cody and pioneer life. This event is in conjunction with Quad Cities Museum Week. The village is also teaming up with the Buffalo Bill Museum, LeClaire, IA; Buffalo Bill Cody Homestead in rural Princeton, IA and the Alexander Brownlie Sod House in Long Grove, IA . Guests at any of our locations may pick up a "Cody Trail" passport that they can have stamped at each location and enter a contest to win a basket of gifts filled with souvenirs from all locations. This is also the day of the Strawberry Fest in Long Grove, where in addition to touring the Alexander Brownlie Sod House, visitors can enjoy festival activities. June 16 - August 6: (Tuesdays and Thursdays) 5:00pm-6:00pm Water exercise at Fejevary Pool. The cost is $25.00 for 15 classes or drop-in classes are $2.00 each day. Take the plunge at the end of the day and exercise at the pool. Participants will be led through a variety of stretching and endurance activities to help increase mobility and range of motion while still having fun exercising in the water. These activities are perfect for everyone.

June 17: “People In Motion” program At Dohse Pool, 622 South Concord St., Davenport, Iowa. Splash into summer with exciting water games. This is a free event. Davenport Parks and Recreation would like to show you how much fun you can have right in your own back yard and save money at the same time. June 18: 3:00pm “Little Sprouts:Kinder Nature Program” will be held at the Vander Veer Conservatory. This program costs $3.00 and registration deadline is 5pm on June 15 th . This program is for ages 2-5. They will enjoy 30 minutes of songs, stories, and hands-on seasonal activities.

June 20: 12:00pm-5:00pm Fejevary Park Family Fun Day, 1800 West 12 th Street, Davenport. This is a free family fun day at the park. There will be family activities, a petting zoo, bounce houses, and games during this event. Registration is not required.

June 20: 7:00am Go and watch the Quad City Triathlon at West Lake Park. Participants will be swimming 600 yards, biking 15 miles, and running 3.1 miles. Spectators are welcome.

June 24: “People in Motion” at Emeis Park, 4800 West Locust Street, Davenport. Play baseball, tennis, and golf for free.

June 25: 9:30am-11:30am “Adventures With Grandma” at the Davenport City Cemetery at the base of Division Street. This activity is free.

June 26: 6:00pm-9:00pm Friday Night Jam at the Roosevelt Community Center, 1220 Minnie Avenue, Davenport, Iowa. This activity is on the 4 th Friday of every month. They will be serving pizza and lemonade for $4.00 at the door. They supply board games, the Wii, open gym, and a movie for your entertainment. All ages welcome.

June 26: 5:00pm-9:00pm Head to Vander Veer Park for a movie under the stars. Admission is free.

June 27: 11:00am “Picnic and Picasso” Take the kids out for a fun day at the Wapsi River Center, 31555 52 nd ., Ave., Dixon, Iowa. Have a fun day of peeking into a pollinators paradise, a picnic in the prairie, and painting a pretty picture. That’s a lot of P’s, but it’s all about the bees. Bring a lunch with you. The cost is $5.00 per painting. Registration is required and limited to 10 painters. Call 563-328-3286 to register.

June 27: 10:30am-3:00pm “Minute To Win It” at the Bettendorf Family Museum on Learning Campus Drive. How high can you balance a toppling tower of cups? How many times can you catch a ping pong ball-on your head? Try these and other wacky stunts-all in under 60 seconds. Admission is free to those who receive NCI services and their staff.
