The 6-foot-8 forward then went and raised his career high to 20 points on the road at Idaho.

Island Fever ► The Roadrunners helped to create a new piece of history this season. CSUB took on the inaugural Junkanoo Jam in Bimini, The Bahamas. ► Just 50 miles off the coast of Miami, Bimini has been home to the womens’ Junkanoo Jam since 2003. The tournament host decided to expand the field to add eight men’s teams, four in the Junkanoo Jam and four in the Bimini Jam. ► CSUB opened the Junkanoo Jam with a tough loss against Central Michigan. The `Runners erased a 17-point deficit, but fell in the end, 55-67. ► In Game 2, CSUB earned a come-from-behind victory over San Jose State, 73-72. The `Runners erased a 10-point deficit over the final 4:28 and got a clutch three-pointer with 20 seconds to go from Justin Edler-Davis. ► Bakersfield closed out the Jam with another come-from-behind victory on Sunday, defeating Weber State 68-67. This time around, Damiyne Durham nailed a dagger three-pointer with 5.0 seconds on the clock to give the `Runners the win. CSUB held Weber State, a team that came into the game averaging 88 ppg, to just 67 points. ► For his efforts, Damiyne Durham earned All-Tournament honors.

Invading FOrth Worth ► CSUB opened the 2018-19 season with a road trip to Fort Worth, Texas to take on TCU, ranked No. 20 in the preseason AP poll. ► More than just holding their own against the Horned Frogs, the Roadrunners jumped out to an 11-point lead in the first half and hold on to the lead late in the game. CSUB led as late as 3:22 on the clock, but TCU came back to win 66-61. ► TCU was a 2018 NCAA participant and the 2017 NIT Champion and averaged 82 points per game last season. Taze Moore and Rickey Holden both had 5 assists for the `Runners at TCU.

Replacing Wrapp ►While the presence of Brent Wrapp as a Graduate Assistant Coach this season will help the Roadrunners, CSU Bakersfield will dearly miss seeing one of the best point guards in program history take the floor. In his final game as a `Runner during the WAC Tournament, Wrapp tied Kenny Warren’s (1990-94) school record of 520 career assists. ► Wrapp finished his career 16th in the WAC career records (All Games) for assists. His 520 career assists was just 19 shy of the total produced by BYU legend and current Boston Celtics General Manager . ► In CSUB’s first game against No. 20 TCU, the `Runners tallied 16 assists including five apiece from Rickey Holden and Taze Moore. Defense WIns Championships ► Defense has been the name of the game and the driving factor of CSUB’s success over the past few seasons. Below are breakdowns of Bakersfield’s rankings in several defensive categories among NCAA Division I schools: Category 2015-16 2016-17 2017-18 Scoring Defense 63.8 (16th) 63.9 (22nd) 68.9 (88th) FG% Defense 39.5 (16th) 37.2 (3rd) 42.5 (83rd) Steals/Game 8.0 (24th) 8.2 (17th) 6.1 (191st) Turnovers Forced 15.2 (22nd) 16.6 (8th) 13.6 (129th) Rebounding Margin +4.0 (56th) +3.4 (76th) +2.1 (98th) ► Coach Barnes will not deviate from defensive intensity this season and expects the speed and athleticism of his squad to make up for the team’s lack of size. The West Just Got Bigger ► On Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, CSU Bakersfield announced that it would accept an invitation to join the beginning July 1, 2020. ► The Roadrunners will join UC San Diego as the two new members, raising the league’s membership to 11 universities along with Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Cal Poly, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, and Hawaii. ► The move will allow CSUB to decrease its average round-trip mileage from 2,400 with the WAC schools to 302 miles (excluding Hawaii, 814 miles with Hawaii included), which will increase time in class and reduce travel spending. ► After spending the first several years of its NCAA Division I existence, the `Runners joined the Western Athletic Conference in 2013-14 and have enjoyed the competitive rivalries they have developed in the WAC over the past 6 years. Former ‘Runners Going pro ► Former `Runner Tyrell Corbin (‘15) was named to the 15-man roster for the Charlotte Hornets NBA 2017 Summer League. He just began his second season as a member of the NBA G League’s Northern Arizona Suns. ►Kevin Mays (‘16) spent the past two seasons in Czech Republic’s NBL. Mays was a first-team All-WAC selection in 2015-16, averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds per game for the Roadrunners. ►Dedrick Basile (pronounced BAY-zill; ‘17), best known for sinking the buzzer-beating three-pointer that sent CSUB to its first-ever NCAA Tournament, signed a contract with Alkar, a member of the top tier of Croatian basketball. After one season, Basile got picked up by a team in Finland’s top league and has been reunited with former teammate Shon Briggs (‘18), who will play his first season with the Finnish squad Oulun NMKY along with Basile. ►Jaylin Airington (‘17) inked a deal with Anwol of Poland this summer, helping the club win its second-straight Polish League title last year. In 2018-19, Airington has begun playing with Szolnoki Olaj in the Hungarian NBIA. ►Two-time All-WAC selection Aly Ahmed (‘16) was drafted by the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA Development League in 2016. Issues with his work visa that took too long to clear up caused Ahmed to miss his opportunity to join the Sky- force. Ahmed signed with the Cape Breton Highlanders of NBL Canada this fall. Ahmed was one of just four players in the history of CSUB to score at least 1,000 points and grab over 500 rebounds in his career. After two successful seasons in Canada’s NBL, Ahmed will compete in Egypt’s Superleague in 2018-19. ►Ahmed became just the second Roadrunner ever drafted by the NBA D-League following Tyrone White who was se- lected in the third round by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in 2014. White is currently playing in Mexico’s LNBP in 2018-19. Postseason SUccess ► In 2016-17, the `Runners made a run through the National Invitational Tournament and eventually finding themselves competing inside Madison Square Garden in the NIT Semifinals. They became the first team in history to reach the semifinals as an eight-seed. ► In 2015-16, CSUB made history with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to win the WAC Tournament and a berth in its first NCAA Tournament at the Division I level. The `Runners faced No. 2 seed Oklahoma in Oklahoma City and gave the Sooners a good run late into the game, but eventually fell in the first round of March Madness. 2018-19 CSU B a k e r s f i e l d no t e s CSU Bakersfield Numerical Roster
