NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE __________________________________ October 11, 2013 Contact: Tim Kelley 757.514.4103 757.871.3039 ALL ABOARD THE HOGWARTS EXPRESS! “HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER’S STONE” AT THE SUFFOLK VISITOR CENTER PAVILION SUFFOLK, VA (October 11, 2013) The Hogwarts Express is steaming full-speed ahead from the Suffolk Visitor Center Pavilion! Join the Suffolk Division of Tourism at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, in the open-air Pavilion behind the Visitor Center for a FREE screening of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone. The 2001 blockbuster film features Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Alan Rickman and Richard Harris, and earned over $974 million in worldwide box office receipts. The festivities kick off at the Pavilion, located at 524 N. Main Street in downtown Suffolk, at 6 p.m. with an expected show time of 6:30 p.m. Children will be given a free Hogwarts Express ticket to “board” the Pavilion’s Platform 9 and ¾, and magical snacks and drinks will be available for purchase in the Leaky Cauldron, in support of The United Way. Crafts will be spilling out of Diagon Alley, giving your little one a chance to make some magic. Seating is also available, but chairs, blankets and jackets are encouraged as to make it an even more comfortable evening under the stars. Costumes are not required but are of course encouraged! Rescued from the outrageous neglect of his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon, a young boy with a great destiny proves his worth while attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Based on the worldwide best-seller by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is filled to the brim with fantastic adventure. This PG-rated film’s running time is 152 minutes. It is based on the fantasy novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. The novels follow the life of a young wizard, Harry Potter, and his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is the third highest-grossing film series with $8,539,253,704 total worldwide gross. It had a $1.2 billion budget, meaning it made a profit of over $7 billion. The series was mainly produced by David Heyman, and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson as the three leading characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Four directors worked on the series: Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, and David Yates. It was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, with the main story arc following Harry Potter's quest to overcome his arch-enemy Lord Voldemort.
