Consolidated Business Performance for FY 2010Q1 1. Sales Revenue During the first quarter under review, the Company’s consolidated sales totaled 3,879 million yen (a decrease of 5.8% compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year). Although sales of digital distribution focused on J-Pop titles recorded an increase, there were fewer number major titles released when compared with prior year and also sales declined in the P&D (Production & Distribution) Business. 2.Profit & Loss Regarding the profit and loss situation, sales of digital distribution products and Custom Sales Business both increased and overall expenses in respect of executive compensation, staff salaries and retirement benefits declined. As a result, the Company reported an operating profit for the quarter under review of 167 million yen (compared with an operating loss of 198 million yen for the same quarter of the previous fiscal year). Since the disclosure of quarterly results began in the fiscal year ending March 2005, this year marks the first time that the Company has recorded an operating profit for the first quarter. Furthermore, the Company reported an ordinary profit of 162 million yen (compared with an ordinary loss of 210 million yen for the same quarter of the previous fiscal year) and an overall net profit for the quarter under review of 175 million yen (compared with an overall net loss of 193 million yen for the same quarter of the previous fiscal year). The recorded music industry continues to face contraction and the overall situation remains severe. However, the company places utmost significance in achieving continuous profitability through termination of non-profitable operations and establishing a profit-generating constitution. No.2010012 August 11, 2010 We will continue to implement a variety of measures that include focusing our corporate resources onto fields of strength and fields of growth, optimizing the size of the workforce, as well as making cuts in directors’ compensation and staff salaries. Moreover, by building our strategic partnership with Faith as a member of the Faith Group, we will endeavor to improve our line-up of music-related services and move forward with our plans to realize business synergies. In October of this year CME will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its foundation. To mark this occasion, the Company will formally change its corporate name to Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd., the name under which it had previously been familiar to and respected by Japanese music lovers over the course of many decades. In addition, the Company is currently developing a variety of 100th anniversary projects, which include titles to commemorate the centenary. Looking ahead to the start of our second century as a music company, we are determined to return to our point of origin of music production and to push forward with our business with renewed vigor. CHALLENGE How shall we teach A child to reach Beyond himself and touch The stars, We, who have stooped so much? How shall we say to Him, "The way of life Is through the gate Of Love" We, who have learned to hate? Author Unknown Great ideals and principles do not live from genera- tion to generation just because they are right, not even because they are carefully legislated. Ideals and principles continue from generation to genera- tion only when they are built into the hearts of children as they grow up. --George S. Benson from "World Scouting" RECIPE (For one dealing with children) Take lots and lots of common sense, Mix well with some intelligence; Add patience, it will take enough To keep it all from being tough; Remove all nerves (there's no place for them, Childish noises only jar them); Sprinkle well with ready laughter, This adds a better flavor after; Put sense of humor in to spice it, Add love and understanding. Ice it With disposition sweet and mild, You're ready now to train a child. --Margaret Hite Yarbrough CHORISTERS GUILD LETTERS Volume XIII 1961-62 September Number 1 Ruth Krehbiel Jacobs, Founder Arthur Leslie Jacobs, Editor Norma Lowder, Associate Editor Helen Kemp and Nancy Poore Tufts, Contributing Editors Published for its members by the CHORISTERS GUILD Box 211 Santa Barbara, California Copyright (C) 1961 Choristers Guild - 1 - Several years ago, the following appeared in the first Fall issue of the Letters. • Press Release Nippon Columbia Issues Notice of Consolidated
November 13, 2012 Press Release Nippon Columbia Issues Notice of Consolidated Business Results for Second Quarter of Fiscal Year Ending March 2013 Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd. (hereinafter the Company; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director/President and Chief Operating Officer (COO): Yasuharu Hara) today gives notice that it has issued its consolidated business results indicating the Company’s overall performance for the period up to the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013 (April 1 ~ September 30, 2012). Consolidated Business Performance for Second Quarter FY2012 The Japanese music market continues to struggle in a difficult business environment. During the period from January to September 2012, the total production of music titles including music video titles increased by 7% compared with the same period in 2011. However, during the period from January to June 2012 (latest available information), actual sales of paid music downloads decreased by 25% compared with the same period in 2011 (Recording Industry Association of Japan). 1. Sales Revenue During the period of up to the second quarter ending March 31, the Company’s cumulative consolidated sales revenue totaled 6,513 million yen (a decrease of 3.5% compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year). Despite the contributions of animation-related music titles and of the Nintendo 3DS “Kobito Zukan Kobito Kansatsu Set” to sales in the Sales/Digital Distribution Business, there was a decline in digital distribution sales centered on J-Pop titles. Moreover, a downturn in sales by the Company’s US music production subsidiary due to postponements and cancellations of major releases also contributed to the overall decline in sales revenue.

May 11, 2012 Press Release Nippon Columbia Issues Notice of Consolidated Business Results for the Full Fiscal Year Ending March 2012 Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd. (hereinafter the Company; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director/President and Chief Operating Officer (COO): Yasuharu Hara) today gives notice that it has issued its consolidated business results indicating the Company’s overall performance for the full fiscal year ending March 31, 2012 (April 1, 2011 ~ March 31, 2012). Consolidated Business Performance for FY2011 (Ending March 2012) 1. Sales Revenue During the fiscal year under review, the Company’s consolidated sales totaled 14,681 million yen (a decrease of 10.7% compared with the previous fiscal year). The main reasons for the overall decline in the Company’s sales were the reduction in the scale of the Others segment following the spinoff of the Company’s subsidiary Creative Core Co., Ltd., and decreased sales in the Physical Sales/Digital Distribution Business segment, where although sales of Animation and Dance & Fitness titles moved steadily, digital distribution sales centered on J-Pop titles declined. 2.Profit and Loss Regarding the profit & loss situation, in line with the decline in sales of digital distribution products, the Company recorded a consolidated operating profit for the fiscal year under review of 513 million yen (compared with a profit of 882 million yen for the previous fiscal year). Also, with addition of reversal of accrued royalties, the Company reported an ordinary profit of 534 million yen (compared with an ordinary profit of 989 million yen for the previous fiscal year) and a net profit of 463 million yen (compared with a net profit of 876 million yen for the same quarter of the previous fiscal year).
